Here is a useful tip for you. One of the most common mistakes beginners make when cutting wood is forgetting about the saw’s “kerf.” The kerf refers to the width of material removed by the saw blade during a cut. In other words, the blade doesn’t just split the wood, it actually removes a small amount of it, turning that material into sawdust. If you don’t account for this, your measurements can end up slightly off. This becomes especially important when making precise cuts. To keep your measurement accurate, position the blade so the kerf falls on the waste side of the cut, not the piece you plan to keep. Otherwise, your final piece may end up slightly shorter than intended. While this difference may not matter for every project, it can make a big impact when precision is important.
