RASTA stands for “Rescue And Sanctuary for Threatened Animals” and focuses on aiding abandoned and abused farm animals as well as inspiring compassion for all our animal friends through advocacy and public outreach. For almost 20 years, RASTA has taken beings of all shapes and sizes who need a home. If you ever visit this place of love, you get more than just a chance to meet the cute denizens. The kind volunteers also provide all visitors with a 30-minute presentation on the sanctuary and veganism. “Because in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter how much land or how much money you have, you can’t rescue them all but you can make a much larger impact by educating people about veganism and about, just making kinder choices in life and things like that.”

The modern era is marked by humanity continuously consuming ever-greater amounts of natural resources. Blue Renew This is a recycling program for US healthcare facilities created by Halyard Health. Through Blue Renew, more than 400 US hospitals are diverting over 1,814 metric tons of blue wrap from entering landfills each year. Over the long run, the Blue Renew program is expected to recycle more than 13,600 metric tons annually. During processing, the blue wrap is converted into resin pellets and then eventually made into distribution and product tote bags, garbage cans, bedpans, and washbasins.

Mr. Winchester Lemen has a vision for the plastic we may use just once and then dump. This innovator has created adorable and sturdy chairs, school desks, and tables out of plastic refuse. For 6 years, he worked on developing a way to make a product out of soft plastics, particularly plastic wrappers, such as detergent and shampoo sachets. This material always ended up in landfills as no one else in the recycling industry wanted it. Not only did Mr. Lemen succeed, what he perfected is considered a major step forward in plastic recycling technology.

The other thing I would like to say about gaining trust is that no matter what you do, or learn to do with your anatomy, when you strike, when you cause pain, in any way to that animal, you’re breaking that trust. They were racing horses with whips. And the horse actually runs slower when the are whipped. And if you think about it, if you took the Olympic foot runner, human, and whipped him, you would take his mind off of his job of running, and he would run slower. Why can’t we figure that out? If we can just try to give the horse those things that encourage them to go.

Today, we will see how Mr. Roberts approaches a horse that he has never previously trained. The moment he calls “Join-Up” is a wonder, with the horse voluntarily choosing Mr. Roberts as his or her leader and companion. Mr. Roberts has used his Join-Up techniques successfully with thousands of horses. Join-Up is also humane, unlike the traditional method of “breaking” horses to the rider’s will, and a much faster way to gain a horse’s cooperation by comparison.

And in this business of training horses, which I am a professional at, and have won 11 world championships training horses. But, what I inherited was a world whereby demand was made from the horse. That a good trainer can make a horse do whatever he wants him to. But the great trainer can cause the horse to want to do it. And if the teachers in school thought that way, and a lot of them do, or if the bosses of corporations thought that way, and a lot of them do, they would have a better corporation and a better school. If a student is doing their work because they want to, they will do a better job. And the same thing down on the assembly line of a factory.

Back in 1979, if you said the word “vegan,” nobody even knew what you were talking about - from the planet Vega or something. Nobody knew what you were talking about. So, now, that’s pretty much universal. And the amazing thing about veganism is the incredible surge, about a 600% increase in the last couple of years in people choosing veganism as an alternative. And I think that’s going to grow because one of the things I’ve discovered over the years from social movements is that it doesn’t take a majority to carry out anything.

And now, it’s been proven that it is probably one of the most significant threats to the survival of life in the sea. If anybody eats fish, they are eating plastic. Microplastic is now in fish; it’s in meat; it’s in the soil; it’s everywhere. And it’s a non-biodegradable substance, but the problem is that also it attracts things like PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) and other chemicals to it, almost like a magnet. And so, it’s a way for people when they’re eating fish, they eat plastic, they also eat PCBs and other chemicals in that form. I think it’s one of the most insidious threats right now to the survival of all life in the ocean. And of course, that means to all life on the planet.

Sea Shepherd was created in 1977, and its mission is “to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.” The organization sets itself apart from many other of our animal protection entities as its fleet of 15 ships uses innovative direct-action methods to provide security to endangered animals. Sea shepherd has chapters all over the world, and these are volunteers who, in their own communities, come together and are a support base for the operation of the ships and the campaigns.

“Dogs are able to recognize our good heart.” “Dogs think similarly to us; they differ only because they cannot speak.” “Dogs give people a sense of responsibility, happiness, and the fact that they are sensitive.” It shows me that there is nothing else but to raise kids’ awareness and to enjoy this world, to enjoy joy and love. Tom’s focus is on instilling a deep sensitivity in Polish youth for the feelings and needs of all living beings. Change the next generation so that we can have a better life on earth.

I came from Poland. I am an animal lover, teacher and writer. I save animals, and I believe that - thanks to these actions we are all taking with regard to animals and saving them - the suffering will come to an end and we’ll do many important things. I’ve written 10 books for children, a few novels, poems included, and two fairy tales. The book “Dog’s Worries” became a sensation in Poland. It won a Ministry of National Education contest as the best schoolbook and it has become a main schoolbook, meaning a compulsory book for children ages 8 to 12. FIAPO realizes that the root of most animal welfare issues is humanity’s demand for meat. The organization believes the best way to deal with the barbarism of producing and consuming animals is to boost public adoption of the compassionate lifestyle, namely the plant-based diet. Initiated in April 2013, there are grassroots activists in more than 70 cities, making Living Free the largest vegan advocacy network in India. FIAPO also promotes a unique initiative called the “21 Day Compassion Challenge.” It provides practical guidance on how to help people transition to a vegan way of life, which is the best solution for halting animal suffering.

In our last episode, we shared two of the five major programs that FIAPO has launched, namely Farmed Animals and Companion Animals. Today, we will learn about the other three FIAPO programs: "Animals in Captivity," "Movement Building," and "Personhood for Animals." FIAPO believes a well-trained advocate can play a more significant and influential role in enhancing animal rights. Effort and energy are put into empowering members and building up communication networks that help to cultivate holistic activists that stand up for animals.

FIAPO is India’s most comprehensive and largest non-governmental animal rights organization. It empowers animal rights workers, activists, supporters, and advocates to collectively act as a single voice for the animals in India. Nationally, the entity has more than 120 member organizations and 200 supporter groups. FIAPO’S goal is to end the use of animals in every aspect of human life, including in food, clothing, experimentation, work, and entertainment-basically to end any form of exploitation.

People typically think the main purpose of a hospital is to cure diseases, but health is actually our main goal, and this includes spiritual health. At our Tzu Chi Hospitals, we wish for all people’s hearts to be purified and for society to be in harmony. The clothes l am wearing are made from recycled plastic bottles. Thirty percent of the water used at our hospital is recycled water. Our hospital provides a free shuttle bus to patients so that they can take this courtesy transportation when they come to our hospital.

In addition to promoting the vegetarian diet, Tzu Chi Hospitals have made great efforts to advocate environmental protection. Tzu Chi Hospitals high environmental standards and excellent health care delivery have also received international acclaim.

Supreme Master Ching Hai explained why seals are so vital to our planet during a 2009 interview with the Irish journalist Louise Kings. “The seals have conveyed that it is important for them to be allowed to stay on Earth - not for themselves, but so they can continue doing their job, which is to keep the Earth in balance with love. You see, the seals and the whales emanate an incredible, great power of divine love, an unconditional love that could be likened to that between a mother and her child. They anchor and distribute this wave of love across our planet. And it is this love that is sustaining our planet and keeping it from destruction up to now. So , we should never ever hunt and kill these noble, gracious helpers of humankind and the planet.”
