In this episode, deeply moved by the heartfelt hymn sung by Bambi Baaba and His disciples, Supreme Master Ching Hai expresses Her gratitude as She writes letters of thanks.

Is He crying? It feels like He’s crying. He’s very emotionally – touched. He sings with all His Being here, with all the soul. Beautiful. So beautiful voice. Ah, beautiful, beautiful. He has a beautiful voice, and He sings with the whole of His heart. It’s really touching.

It sounds really nice. So, please tell the Master that I thank Him very much. I don’t know if I can write it, but I’ll try to scribble something. I would just say, “Thank You, Master for all Your love and Your music and Your bananas.” Yes, yes. I hope He understands. He does, huh? (He will understand.) If He doesn’t, too bad because that’s the way I am. Beloved Bambi Baaba…? This is His name – Bambi? Bambi. You know what Bambi is? It’s a small little deer-person. You know, there’s a film called “Bambi.” “The Prince Bambi.” (The deer.) Oh, deer-person. And I love that film. I saw it many times again and again. When I was young, I saw it, and I just saw it this year again, many times. I love it. Beautiful.

(In our language it’s an exclamation of compassion.) Is that right? Yeah also, and beauty. That’s it. Give me a… You read it and see if it’s OK for Him. (It’s definitely OK for Him.) Yeah, it’s OK. That’s original and that’s me, see. (Yes, He’ll be most grateful to receive it.)

I seldom write letters, tell Him. And that’s the best that He could get from me already. If He expects more, I’m sorry to disappoint Him. I very seldom I write personal letters. I don’t write. I don’t like writing, but I think I will improve myself after this. Yes, please. This is for… I don’t know how to write… “Bambi Baaba” is His name. Bambi Baaba is a reverend name for a great Master already, anyhow. So I don’t need to put the Maharaji, Supreme Master Bambi Baaba.

One more – the letter for the sister. Oh, that I think I cannot accomplish. Oh, so much today. It’s beautiful – they’re so beautiful, the letter. So beautiful. But she writes too much – “obedient servant” and all that. We don’t have to write that. Do we do like that? I am not used to with this kind of beautiful language. Do we write like that in Africa? (Sometimes.) And now I write for the sister. What’s the name? Mama (Keramera.) Keramera.

It’s so difficult to write a letter. Can you see that? I need one more envelope, please. “Apology” – like that? (Yes.) “Apology.” She must understand. She should write what is missing. She should add more. Oh, it’s so easy. I never write so much in my life – just because you two force me to become a “Secretary of the Year.” I’ll get the award in Uganda when I go there. Prepare an award for me – The Supreme Secretary. Sister – or this is her name? Mama. (Mama. Yes.) Yeah, that’s it. And this is… Yeah. Oh, that will please Him. Yes. I’ll put a heart for Him. Alright, this is for Tong to keep.

That’s it. Now, please give them together with that, and this is for the sister – the letter. And the bananas, we will enjoy when they’re ripe. We can put some incense next to it and it ripens very fast. Is that right? They do that in Africa or not? How do you make it ripen very fast? Put incense. (Normally in Africa, the best system is to smoke it.)

Oh, smoke. Yeah, yeah – incense also. Yeah, a kind of smoke. How do you smoke it? You put wood under a big room. (They keep it somewhere up, hanging where there is…) Fire underneath. (Some, yes – and somewhere outside, because if you put it directly under the fire then it will be the heat.) Yes, yes. (It is ripened with the smoke itself.) (Oh, really?) (It gets a certain kind of perfume, I think.) (Fragrant smell.) Oh, the ancient way. (Yes.) That’s what we do. That’s why they put incense. It’s also a kind of smoke. How can it ripen with smoke? Just smoke make them… So the people on the airplane, they should help with the ripening bananas, they smoke all the time. So next time, when I go on the airplane, I will take unripe bananas – hang them in the cabin.
