Most of the people in the government, like the President, the First Lady, they all knew something. So, when I came, they knew who was coming. So, the first day of my arrival, they already sent people at 9 o’clock to fetch me. I didn’t even ask for anything yet. They came and said, “Please, come to us.” The first day! Normally, if you want to see the First Lady or the President, oh, maybe it’d take you another election. But this went fast. So quick. […]

When you promise somebody to do something, then you do it. I went to Africa just because I promised the Prince, so I had to go. And it cost me a lot of money, time, organization, nerves, and all kinds of “African style” in between. It was not easy, but I had promised; I had to go. So the same; I promised the First Lady through the secretary that I’ll come, so I had to come. […] And so, the Prince was very touched, as well as had difficulty in understanding why we were so insistent in consideration for other people before ourselves, before our own comfort.  […] 

But he asked me then, “Why?” I said, “Well, that is the way we live.” I said, “It’s not the initiation,” because he kept forcing me to give him initiation. […] So, taking the opportunity of his question, I told him, “You see, this is a way of life. Not the initiation, not the vegan diet, not the precepts, but it’s a way of living. Everyone who wants the initiation must be up to this standard, sacrificing ourselves for everybody else before our own comfort. And that is a way of life. It’s not the initiation alone.” […]
