Bean sprouts are nutritious foods that can be incorporated into many tasty dishes. You can tell whether bean sprouts have been soaked using the traditional method without chemicals when they have many roots, long and slender bodies, and are hard to break. In contrast, bean sprouts soaked in chemicals typically have no roots, thick, white bodies, and easily break. Store-bought bean sprouts can be soaked in growth stimulants which are detrimental to human health, but the good news is these substances can easily be dissolved in baking soda. Just mix 10-15 grams (2-3 teaspoons) of baking soda in 2 liters of water, and let the sprouts soak for 20 minutes and then rinse.
