Honoring the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Tenth Sikh Master

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji was born Gobind Rai on December 22, 1666 to the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur, and his wife Gurji at Patna in India. And so, on November 22, 1675, the ninth Guru Teg Bahadur passed away a martyr, and his son Gobind Rai became the tenth Guru of the Nanak lineage. In 1684, he composed “Var Sri Bhagauti Ji Ki,” also known as “Chindi Di Vaar,” or “The Ballad of Chandi.” This beautifully versed piece of writing evokes the Hindu epic “Markandeya Purana.” In 1699, large numbers of the Sikh community had congregated in Anandpur for the annual festival of Vaisakhi. Gobind Rai also announced that on this day, he himself had also been reborn, and from now on he was to be known as Guru Gobind Singh. In 1708, the beloved Sri Guru Gobind Singh left his Earthly body. In his final moments, he asked for the sacred book that had now been completed, calling this collection of sacred texts the Guru Granth Sahib. He then declared that this holy book alone would be his successor, saying, “He who so acknowledges it will obtain his reward. The Guru will rescue him. Know this as the truth.” During a 2010 teleconference in the United States, Supreme Master Ching Hai explained further about the Sikh Masters’ lineage, and why Guru Gobind Singh had it end with the holy book, Guru Granth Sahib. “Very fresh, very new still and still full of blessing power. And also Master Gobind Singh, he’s the direct descendant from all the Masters, and the disciples are his direct disciples.” “So, even without any successor, if they just every day study the Granth Sahib and remember all the Masters’ teachings, still fresh with blessing, then it’s okay.”

Lao Tzu: Living in Tune with the Universe

Lao Tzu was an enlightened Sage in ancient China and author of the Tao Te Ching. The Tao Te Ching contains ‘The Book of the Way’ (the Tao) and ‘The Book of Virtue or Power’ (the Te). It is generally believed that on this day in 571 BC, the great Sage Lao Tzu was born in Li Village, Ku County, in the State of Chu from the East Zhou Dynasty. This is now the location of the Tai Qing Gong Taoist Temple, which is situated in Luyi County in Henan Province. “Shiji” documents that Lao Tzu’s surname is Li, Erh is the given name, and Dan is the style name. “Lao” could either be Lao Tzu’s surname or an honorific name in respect of His great virtue and longevity, and “Tzu” means a man of reverence or Master.

السيدة العذراء، أم يسوع المسيح

20:54

السيدة العذراء، أم يسوع المسيح

As Mother of Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary is venerated, worshipped, and respected throughout many of the world’s religions. She is considered the most meritorious Saint of Christianity. Many believers over the centuries have reported a Marian apparition, or a supernatural appearance by the Blessed Virgin Mary. In Islam, Mary is held to an exalted position and is the only woman named in the Holy Quran. The nineteenth chapter of the Quran is, in fact, devoted to and named after Mary. One of the holy days that honors the Blessed Virgin Mary and helps us to understand her noble life is the “Assumption of Mary,” also known as the “Dormition of the Virgin Mary” and the “Feast of the Assumption of Mary.” The Assumption of Mary is usually celebrated on August 15th.It is understood that Lord Jesus Christ, who loved His Mother dearly, chose to take or assume Her body and soul to Heaven once She had completed Her earthly life. The Blessed Virgin Mary thus shared in Her Son’s glory and living as Queen in the great Kingdom of Heaven. The Assumption of Mary is the church’s celebration of Mary’s heavenly birthday, and commemorates Her assumption into Heaven. The Assumption of Mary is celebrated in many countries, especially in Europe and Latin America. The Assumption is commemorated with firework displays and colorful processions. In Sicily, it is a bowing procession, and the people carry a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary through town to a ceremonial arch of flowers where a group of people hold a statue of Lord Jesus Christ. The Blessed Virgin Mary has been a patron Saint in France since 1638, and many Catholics in France attend special church services and celebrations. In São Paulo and other parts of Southern Brazil, this holy day is called Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, or“Our Lady of the Navigators.”Decorated canoes travel to small villages for entertainment and feasting.According to Pope Benedict XVI:“By contemplating Mary in heavenly glory, we understand that the earth is not the definitive homeland for us either, and that if we live with our gaze fixed on eternal goods we will one day share in this same glory and the earth will become more beautiful.”

نعمة الله الرب كريشنا، كائن أسمى

“I’m the conscience in the heart of all creatures; I’m their beginning, their being, their end; I’m the mind of the senses, I’m the rediant sun among lights; I’m the song in sacred lore, I am the king of deities; I’m the priest of great seers...” Lord Krishna is the Godhead of the Hindu Trinity of Deities, which includes the Hindu Gods Shiva and Brahma.
