In today’s news, Asian Development Bank supports flood recovery efforts in Thailand. US researchers review effects of climate change on water-borne disease, German engineers set new outdoor efficiency record for direct solar-to-hydrogen conversion, pro-life rallies held in Ireland to advocate for unborn children, Canadian boy creates app to help communities track and coexist with urban wildlife, Singapore vegan bakery expands into Japan through Tokyo-based partnership, and Kenyan veterinarians help injured elephant-person regain mobility.

I have an eyecare tip for us. A burning or gritty sensation in the eyes is a common sign of dry eye, a condition that is especially prevalent in older adults. It can become more noticeable in dry climates. Extended screen time can contribute because people blink less when using digital devices. Staying well hydrated and taking regular breaks from screens can help reduce symptoms. When dryness occurs, gently closing your eyes for a few minutes may provide relief by allowing the eye’s surface to rehydrate. Warm compresses and gentle eyelid cleansing (lid scrubs) may also help soothe the eyes. Over-the-counter artificial tears are another common option. Preservative-free formulas are recommended, as preservatives in some eye drops can further irritate sensitive eyes. Use these drops as needed, or regularly if recommended for ongoing relief. If symptoms don’t resolve, consult an eye care professional so they can evaluate for underlying causes and, if necessary, recommend prescription eye drops or oral medications.

Let’s enjoy some relaxing vibrations on the laughter couch with the joke of the day, entitled, “Desk Upgrade.”

Kevin was bragging to his best friend, Azai.

“I used a standing desk at work today.”

“Were you more productive?”

“Not really, but I did spend eight hours pretending my legs weren’t tired.”

?!

And now we have a heartline in Mandarin Chinese, with multiple-language subtitles, from Ze-Hua in China
