Visionary Artist Elen Ture (vegan): Creating for Animal Liberation and the Planet, Part 1 of 2

Elen Ture is a self-taught painter from Anatolia of Western Asia and Turkey. Her commitment to animal liberation and environmental protection is evident in her inspiring artworks. Born in Paris, France, in 1977, Elen graduated from the Atelier des Peintres en Decors (Decorative Painters’ Workshop) in Montmartre and began her successful career as an artist in 2012.“I was a vegetarian when I was nine years old. I was convinced that eating an animal was just not right. For me, it wasn’t a ‘normal’ thing. I’m over 40, and I’m doing pretty well, I must say. I went totally vegan because when I saw what milk is about six years ago, notably with L214, I stopped right away.”“I have one of my frescoes called ‘The Forgotten Ones.’ I went to the Museum of Anthropology in Paris to make this famous fresco, which tells of the suffering of fish, because they are simply forgotten. You can’t see how they suffer. It takes them eight hours to die when out of water. We don’t kill them right away. It's terrible to see that man has come to this point – to the point of destroying all life forms on this Earth without any scruples, without any heart after all, and without respect for life itself. Now to paint, you must have this form of spirituality, in which you have to be free in your head, in your body, and in your stomach. We can’t eat just anything.”“I paint animals a lot, but differently; in fact, I sublimate them. I sublimate the animal! The animal has quite strong expressions, very close to the human, after all. If you add arms to a fish, it changes everything. We wouldn’t want to eat the fish.” “You have to have that vision, actually, to be able to paint, to understand that this suffering, the fish can’t express it. But maybe I, as a painter, I can show it to others and create this awareness.” “With art, I think that anyone who can paint can raise awareness amongst people about the animal cause in their own way.”

Ms. Esther Méndez is a rising star in the acting world in Spain. Being an accomplished actress, Esther is also a very spiritual person who meditates daily to connect with the Divine Nature within. She is a conscientious vegan, who actively promotes for environmental protection and animal rights. Supreme Master Television is honored to have Ms. Esther Méndez as our guest to share with us her amazing journey in acting and spirituality. “I studied filmmaking and photography in the university. And in the last year I did Erasmus in Czech Republic, in Prague.” “So when I found the Actors’ Temple, where they teach Meisner technique, and I started training there, I was blown away by the compassion of everybody there.” Apart from being an actress, Esther is also a singer, dancer, and filmmaker, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Audiovisual Communication from the European University of Madrid. In 2014, Esther played the leading role as the beautiful Sara in the Spanish feature film “Matar el Tiempo” or “Killing Time.” “Matar el Tiempo” touches the depth of morality and empathy through the story of a courtesan, who saves the life of her baby and finds love in the process. Esther’s acting impressed the public and the media. The Hollywood Reporter commented: “The debutante Esther Mendez is solid and credible in a challenging role in which she’s largely forced to deliver to camera.” Who is Esther’s biggest inspiration? “My biggest inspiration? It is Supreme Master Ching Hai. I am so grateful that I met Her. I am so thankful that I got initiated into the Quan Yin Method.”

A Christmas Celebration - Remembering the Love and Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian), Part 3 of 5

The T’Rưng and Ching Kram bamboo gong are two traditional music instruments of the Ê Đê people from Central Highlands, Âu Lạc (Vietnam). Made from bamboo tubes, they are often called the soul of the mountains, the sound of the forests. In ancient times, during harvest season, villagers used to hold festivals and play these instruments to celebrate and thank Heaven and Earth. Next, we would like to invite Master and fellow practitioners to listen to a T’Rưng and Ching Kram bamboo gong duet, based on the melody of the song “Go! Go! Go!” performed by two artists from Đắk Lắk in Central Highlands, Âu Lạc (Vietnam). “You know this Đắk Lắk is one of the so-called like up, original land, very high on a mountain far away from the cities. They came from such a place. Very pure and natural. Thank you.” Once again, thanks to Master for giving us the gift of the Quan Yin family that makes us travel all over the world. We have been to the beautiful plains of Âu Lạc (Vietnam). And now we are going to discover the beautiful steppes of Mongolia. The next performance is in Mongolian language. And it is a song that celebrates the four seasons of that beautiful country. Welcome, Mongolia! We just visited the grassland in Mongolia. Next let’s go to Tibet to have a look. A group of sisters from China will perform a dance to the beautiful song “That Day.” Through this poem and dance, initiates wish to express their love for Supreme Master Ching Hai. “That day, while meditating with my eyes closed amidst swirls of incense, suddenly I heard You reciting the mantra. That night, I turned the wheel of prayer, not for salvation, but for a touch of Your fingertips. That year, I bowed and prostrated on the mountain paths, not for an audience, but for Your warm presence. That lifetime, I circled the mountains, rivers and stupas, seeking not rebirth, but a meeting with You along the way. That moment, I flew and soared into immortality, not to seek another life, but to seek Your peace and happiness.”

Telling "We Animals" Stories: Interview with Jo-Anne McArthur (vegan), Part 1 of 4

Jo-Anne McArthur, a Shining World Compassion Award Recipient, is a Canadian award-winning photojournalist, humane educator, animal rights activist, and author. “My name is Jo-Anne McArthur and I’m a photojournalist. I’m also the founder of the We Animals project, and that started over 15 years ago. It was me with a camera, going around the world, documenting our relationship with animals. But now, what it is, is We Animals Media. We are a small group of filmmakers, photographers, journalists telling the stories of animals worldwide.” “I thought it would be a really big deal to give up meat-eating. I thought it would be a big sacrifice, but what I learned is that it’s the opposite – it’s very freeing to live in line with my ideology, which is to not cause harm to anyone. And so eventually, when I became vegan, I felt quite freed. I think being vegan is a liberating way to live.” “What I find exciting about the camera is that it’s a tool for change. It shines light on all of these industries that are functioning behind walls, windowless walls. These are places that, for the most part around the world, we’re not allowed to see. Because if we were to see, people would not support that kind of cruelty.”

Vegan Heroes - Father’s Day Celebration, Part 1 of 6

On June 16, 2019, the third Sunday of June, our Association members held a grand celebration for International Father’s Day, thanking all the fathers in the world in human and non-human forms. Our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai graciously attended this event at the New Land Ashram in Taiwan, also known as Formosa. We will now present to you this uplifting celebration in our series of programs entitled “Vegan Heroes - Father’s Day Celebration.” Let’s start with Part 1. As the head of the family, father is the great tree protecting us from tough storms. Gratitude to father for his selfless love and sacrifice, we wish all fathers a Happy Father’s Day! Taoyuan Center, Formosa (Taiwan), is going to present the song “Devotion.” “The long road is devoted to the place far away, the rose is devoted to love. What can I devote to you, my love? The white clouds are devoted to the meadow, the rivers are devoted to the ocean. What can I devote to you, my friend? The white doves are devoted to the blue sky, the starlight is devoted to the long night. What can I devote to you, my child? The rain is devoted to the earth, the time is devoted to the seasons. What can I devote to you, my mom and dad?” Ladies and gentlemen, there are so many songs in this world, but those about fathers always bring the most wonderful and elevated emotion. Let us merge into the ocean wave of fatherly love through the song entitled “A Song for Beloved Father” performed by the fellow initiates from Âu Lạc. “Your hands once rocked my cradle with a lullaby. Your hands once helped me take my first steps. I can never forget the days of my childhood with you. Those wonderful dreams always have your images. I fear the day when you’re no longer in life. I fear the day when I no longer see your beloved face. I pray for time, I pray for time to drift slowly, so that I may always have you in life. The years passed swiftly. Many changes in the currents of life. Looking at my beloved father, now your hair has grayed. For those years you have raised me, many difficult sacrifices, with hope in your life, to see me live happily, to grow up as a good person. From the depth of my heart, I’m thankful for my life.”

Vegan Indian Drum Maker: Dr. K. Varadarangan

00:15:06

Vegan Indian Drum Maker: Dr. K. Varadarangan

"My name is Dr. K. Varadarangan. I reside in Bengaluru, India. On the music front, I have been learning music since a very young age and I’ve been a performer of Carnatic music. We turned vegan; that is, me and my wife both turned vegan in 2010, March, on our wedding anniversary day, after I came to know about the horrific practices of dairy, abusing the animals, the cows. So, in 2010, when I became vegan, I became very sensitive about items I used to use for daily use. And, of course, we eliminated all the non-vegan items from our lifestyle. But one thing that still remained was this percussion instrument called the mridangam. In fact, the mridangam is made of three animal skins - goat, cow, and buffalo. And I also came to know that cows are specifically slaughtered to make instrument, and I felt very depressed and sad. So the first idea was to give up performing on stage, so that I would not be part of this crime. But then an inner voice told me that's not enough, that if I quit performing, no big change. So I wanted to bring about a change that could even possibly help others, so I started thinking, ‘Why can't I invent a new instrument without leather, without animal skin and probably also wood?’ So I wanted to use an alternative material. I thought of fiberglass as a shell material but I didn't know how to make a head out of non-animal products. But then after a lot of research, many, many failures, months of failures, and completely sleepless nights, somehow I wanted to do it. I know the only thing that guided me was the passion to save animals from slaughter, because music is, everybody agrees it is divine and our Indian music particularly, which is very spiritual and divine in nature. We talk about only about these themes in our music, about spirituality, about divinity. And using the traditional instrument would be going against that very principle, so I decided to invent a synthetic head. So now I have been successful in making this instrument with a synthetic black spot which is Syahi. And also the membrane is now a polyester film. Dr. Varadarangan’s vegan drums are not only ethical, but also have many advantages over the traditional type. They are light in weight, user friendly and durable. Their pitch does not vary with temperature. What’s more, they allow musicians to tune them precisely. It’s no wonder that these vegan drums have been in high demand.

A Christmas Celebration - Remembering the Love and Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian), Part 4 of 5

Next, A sister from China will bring us a scene from the Peking opera “Selling Water.” And this act is about a maid named Meiying in an ancient society. Meiying goes to great lengths to cheer up the lady she serves. She leads the lady to a garden and plays a flower quiz. In a while, you will see the sister come on stage dressed as a huadan in Peking opera. A huadan is usually a young, smart and vivacious female who plays a comedic role that’s well loved by the audience. “Oh! Yes! I will tell her more about flowers. There are no flowers to pick in November except pinecones. Chen Xin-yuan wed a remote foreign king for peace, like plum blossoms blooming in the snow. Looking in the mirror as the day dawns, which fragrant oil to choose for the hair? Which fragrant powder for the face? What floral rouge for the lips? Looking in the mirror as the day dawns, comb the hair with osmanthus oil, apply peach flower powder to the face, and almond flower rouge to the lips.” Chinese opera is very abstract. It’s removed from real life. A particular scene is expressed through specific movements. Let me explain the meaning of a few movements. For example, this movement is closing the door. This is a door. I push it open and lock it. Now, this movement looks like shrugging, but it’s actually carrying shoes. In real life, we may carry shoes like this. But in the opera, it’s done like this. That’s more elegant. After a wonderful discovery of the Beijing opera we are now going to rest a bit in the country of tranquil mountains. The land of quiet mountains, and that is indeed, Korea. So, Korea’s national folk song is coming next in a beautiful performance expressing the joy of reaching enlightenment. “Arirang Arirang Arariyo Go over the head of Arirang Beloved, if you have left me behind shall not walk even 4 kilometers.”

Vegan Heroes - Father’s Day Celebration, Part 3 of 6

The next program is a modern dance “The Silent Love”, displaying the noble love of a swan father. The dancer got his inspiration from the story of the swan dad Sai Sai in the photo book “The Noble Wilds” by Supreme Master Ching Hai. Now, with great respect for the swan father, let’s watch “The Love of Silence” performed by a professional dancer from the Taipei Center, Formosa (Taiwan). “It’s very touching. Excellent! Thank you. So beautiful, so beautiful. Very well done, and it was so real. It reminds me of Sai Sai plucking his feathers to give warmth to the children and ensure that their feet would not be hurt by stones and prickles on the road. It was so touching! As if I was watching the real thing. And it was even more expressive. Thank you so much! Excellent! Wow, breathtaking!” The next performance is a dance “Glorifying the Universe” by Formosa (Taiwan) Taichung Center. “So beautiful!” And on to the next performance. The guqin, or zither, has a 3,000-year history in China. Our Association member from the Nantou Center will perform “Flowing Water” on the zither. This music piece is about finding bosom friends as close as the mountains and rivers. In this performance, we also invite the Association members from Korea, Âu Lạc (Vietnam), and Formosa (Taiwan) to recite a poem to praise the fathers. So now, all bosom friends and saints, please welcome them with a round of applause. “Master, a title symbolizing perfect enlightenment and wisdom. Do not mistake Hirm for a mundane Buddhist master, for Hes is the incarnation of Buddhas & Bodhisattvas. In the vast cosmos, Hiers compassion is beyond limit. Some revered Hirm as God, some call Hirm Buddha-Mother Cundi, the Creator, the Tao, or the Father of all creatures. Father, a title symbolizing the beginning of countless households. Do not mistake them for mundane beings, for they are the sowers of physical lives. They are the beacons of the world. In the hearts of their children, their love and dedication are selfless and unconditional. Today, in this distinguished gathering, with joy and sincerity, we express deep gratitude to the God Father of all universes, and to all the fathers. May the Father of all creatures bless us with His grace, and bring peace for all ages.”

A Christmas Celebration - Remembering the Love and Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ (vegetarian), Part 1 of 5

On December 24, 2017, our Association members from around the world gathered for Christmas Eve festivities with beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, also known as Formosa. We will begin with Part 1. “Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! I hope you remember the unconditional sacrifice and love of Jesus Christ. That’s why we celebrate, so we remember it at least once a year.” Two thousand years ago, Jesus was born in Bethlehem and brought innumerable blessings to the beings of this world. Since then, this special day is known as Christmas. Master once said, “The best way to celebrate Christmas is to meditate, pray to God to know our true selves, and to become one with Jesus again.” So at this time of the year, let us pray for all the sentient beings of the Earth with love and gratitude in our hearts. Next, let’s enjoy an energetic dance called “Mountain of Youth” brought to us by sisters from Tainan, Formosa (Taiwan). Next, please enjoy a play “The Birth of Jesus Christ” presented by Taipei Center, Formosa (Taiwan). Christmas is a festival of Love. Jesus Christ had sown spiritual seeds and reminded people of the way Home. “Joy to the World, the Lord has come. Let earth receive her King. Let every heart prepare Him room, and Heaven and nature sing, and Heaven, and Heaven and nature sing. Joy to the World, repeat the sounding joy!” Nowadays, the sacrosanctity of Christmas seems to center on commercial activities as well as eating, drinking, and a lot of outward pleasures, this is a misinterpretation of the true meaning of this auspicious day. Because of such trends, Christmas Day like many traditional festivals, has become a day of suffering for the Enlightened Master. In the midst of our enjoyment, a large number of our animal friends have been sacrificed. This heavy karma incurred has to be endured silently by the Master in the form of illness. Great Masters have been coming to Earth in different times. Our Master, the Supreme Master Ching Hai, is the great Master of our time. Born into this world, She strives to elevate people’s consciousness. Master, You are a gift from God to this world. You teach us by example the meaning of unconditional love and selfless dedication. You help us understand the real meaning of Christmas, which is to emulate the spirit of Jesus Christ, to learn to share, give selflessly, love all people and animal friends.

Vegan Heroes - Father’s Day Celebration, Part 5 of 6

Dear Master, our program today has come to an end. We humbly invite You, Master. “I think, apart from our fathers, our country is also our father, our parent. Without a peaceful country, our life would not be so comfortable. And we wouldn’t be able to develop our talents. Yes, Master. So, since physically I was born in Âu Lạc (Vietnam), I will sing them an Aulacese (Vietnamese) song today. OK?” Thank You, Master. We are so lucky to be able to hear You playing the mandolin. This is the most brilliant performance today. Thank You, Master. We are very grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai for contributing Her precious time and love, to remind all of us that we should be grateful for the devotion of all fathers. Let’s wish all the cherished fathers of humans and animals, a happy Father’s Day, and lots of blessings from Heaven. We thank God, the Godses, and Master for Their grace and blessings. We love You! “Thank you, everyone. Happy Father’s Day! It was fantastic today. I’m cutting this (vegan) cake on behalf of everyone to thank the fathers of all sentient beings. Because I witnessed how they took care of their families just like we humans do. It’s the same for spiritual practitioners. We have to be whole-hearted in order to touch Heaven and Earth. And then we would have results. It’s my own experience. I experienced the same. Whatever we do, if we forget ourselves, we will achieve the best result. Just have to be selfless. Because “all is void from the beginning,” remember? Today let’s remember our father’s grace. Remember his unconditional contribution. We should also remember to be a spiritual practitioner like that. Being a father, just taking care of a few children, he’s already working so hard and devoting all his unconditional love. How much more will it take if we want to be a saint? How much more diligent and unconditional will we have to be. Remember? There are no other conditions. Just be unconditional. Be unconditional in doing everything, then it will be perfect.”

Visionary Artist Elen Ture (vegan): Creating for Animal Liberation and the Planet, Part 2 of 2

“I really put myself in the skin of an animal when I paint. It sometimes tears my heart apart. We find them a lot in mythology, the animals. But not necessarily to eat them. We actually idolized them. We represented them a lot. We really lost this, and I’m trying to recreate it through my paintings. They are protected by the Gods. Animals are cosmic beings. They are of all kinds, of all beauty. They are sublime. If God exists, if Allah exists, He made them beautiful. They are magnificent.” “The ‘Vegan’ canvas has been very successful on the internet, on YouTube, on social networks, because we see it being painted from beginning to end. Even people who are not vegan want to see the final result of the fresco, from a white canvas to the final result. So, it’s a message that works quite well. An Earth surrounded by free animals, it works very well.” “When you’re sensitive, whether to the animal, to nature, or to humans in general, in fact, you have this ability to create. If all artists did something for the animal cause, that would be great! The great thing is that with art, we don’t offend other people. By transmitting messages to them through paintings, music, dance, or something else, without realizing it, we’re transmitting small subliminal messages in the brain unintentionally, but without clashes, without accusations.” “We need to stop sticking to old habits. We need to change our behavior, our current consumption pattern. Even the brushes I currently have are synthetic brushes.” “What is needed is we shouldn’t touch the sea, wildlife, forests, for, I don’t know, 20 to 30 years. We don’t touch anything. Just to let life regenerate. The coming generation, they’ll have to pick themselves up. We need to make them aware of this cause.”

Dr. Joanne Kong (vegan), Musician with a Heart of Gold, Part 2 of 2

Combining her tremendous musical talents with profound eloquence, Dr. Kong delivers powerful messages that pull on the heart strings of audience members. Let’s now listen to a segment of her speech entitled “The Act of Courageous Compassion That Can Change Our World,” and a moving piano performance at the July 2019 North American Vegetarian Society Vegan Summerfest in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, USA. "I would simply say to people to not be afraid of what anyone else thinks, to learn to exercise your own independence and not be so dependent upon the culture. So many of us look at what everyone else does and think, 'Well, gee, everyone else eats animals, so gee, I better too.' If the emphasis can be on being independent, being powerful, empowering yourself. Look at the facts, go on the Internet, become educated about what animal exploitation is not only doing to your own health, but to the planet and the environment and especially our connectedness. We've lost our connection and sense of community with other sentient beings, who in essence are no different from us, so we need to re-establish that connection and I'm optimistic that it will happen. Be Veg, Go Green to Save the World." We’re deeply touched by Dr. Kong’s dedication to vegan advocacy and wish her continued success in all her noble endeavors.

Vegan Heroes - Father’s Day Celebration, Part 4 of 6

Under the great tree of “family,” our father is like a tree root that silently nourishes flourishing flowers and leaves. To thank this unconditional and selfless love, our Tainan Association members in Formosa (Taiwan) will present a special joyful dance named “The Color of Spring in the Mountain” to wish all fathers in the world happiness every day. The next performance is a song accompanied with harp played by our Japanese sister and New Zealand brother, who remembers the happy time with her father through singing this Japanese children’s rhyme “Spring Is Here.” Father’s invigorating rain, our karma cleansed. Dawn rainbow colors luminate our souls. Father’s yellow for patient myriad reminders, well wishing our meditation. Father’s red for supreme, compassionate love for all beings. Father’s violet for beautiful, inspiring gifts in all arts. Father’s green for virtuous principle, promoting peaceful, clean Earth. Father’s blue for miraculous insights into universal powers! Gracefully humble in magnificent, distinguished dress. In sympathy with every atom, talks total positive success. All fathers of the world, show growing glimmers of our real Father’s sun. Our Great Father, Ocean of Love, And the Beloved Lord loving all worlds, are One. “Thank You, Father!” That divine love symbolizes the love of Benevolent God who always watches and leads us back to our Home in Heaven. We thank You, Father! Thank You, God! In the midst of the splendid light, I always see the glimpse of my father. Whenever I was successful, his eyes were sparkling, so that I was firmer and steadier, traversing the long load… Father endowed me with many dreams, forgave me when I was astray, lifted my hands so I could fly high. I am always proud to be your child… O father! I thank you for giving me life! You endured all the elements, overcame difficulties to raise me… Quietly you were watching over me. Whatever happened in life, you were always there for me. O my father! O father!

A Heart-warming Vegan Lunar New Year Hot-pot Banquet, Part 4 of 5

Just now we had the honor of listening to a traditional Aulacese (Vietnamese) folk song, which has a profound meaning, and is sweet to the ears. Next is an interesting mini-drama presented by our children. It is entitled It is entitled “World Vegan, World Peace.” “World Vegan, World Peace.” Please welcome them with a round of applause. “The Golden Age has arrived. Supreme Master Ching Hai has brought to us an encouraging message of peace. World Vegan, World Peace! I am Auntie Elephant. (Wow!) Today I have invited all the small animals in the jungle to participate in this Vegan New Year party. I wish for everyone to enjoy a healthy and compassionate diet in the new year. Finally, this is a New Year song dedicated to everyone. World Vegan, World Peace. Wishing you a wonderful New Year. We sing and we dance. Wishing you a wonderful New Year. Wishing Master a happy, healthy, and peaceful New Year.” “Thank you. Come here, kids. Come on. Well done! Very professional.” (Thank You, Master. Happy New Year.) “So cute, so lovely,” (Thank You, Master.) Next is a solo dance Next is a solo dance by a sister from China. A Mongolian dance, “The Beautiful Prairie is My Home.” Please applaud. Thank you. “The beautiful prairie is my home, where the breeze caresses the green grass and flowers are everywhere, the colorful butterflies fly with the singing birds, the blue water reflects the sunset glow, the fine horses run like rosy clouds, and cow and sheep scatter like pearls. The shepherdess sings loudly. Her merry voice echoes across the sky.” Thank you again, to our sister from China. Thank you, sister from Mainland, for your wonderful dance. Next, Aulacese initiates will present a song titled “In Praise of the Homeland.” Please enjoy. “I visit Âu Lạc (Vietnam) to see the dearest things in our country, trying to find a little love here and there. Love is the immense rice fields. Love is the village communal house and banyan tree. Loving the melancholy lullaby in the alluvial plain. On the river, the ferry misses the love of old. From afar echoes the singing voice around the coconut grove. In my homeland, the girls wear “bà ba” shirts and carry rice- seedlings. Over the rice fields still echo the ancient folk songs. We still have our homeland and rice fields. There is still singing, there is still love. I pray that all are still with me. I pray that all are still with me. There is still singing, there is still love. I pray that all are still with me. I pray that all are still with me.” “Hey, well done!”

A Heart-warming Vegan Lunar New Year Hot-pot Banquet, Part 1 of 5

On the eve of the Lunar New Year, February 4, 2019, a splendid vegan hot-pot banquet was held at the New Land Ashram in Taiwan, also known as Formosa, with special guest our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai. Attending the celebration were our Association members from around the world. Master expressed Her sincere appreciation for the sacrifice of the working staff who had been toiling diligently behind the scenes, preparing the new gathering place. Also, as a token of thanks for the service of the elderly, Master graciously gave them priority to sit at or nearer to the main table. “OK. OK, OK. I wish you all happy New Year. I just want you to know that I honor sacrifice. I honor working people. They have been here even when you went to Hsihu to eat, to have fun with me. But they are working here. They cannot leave. They work day and night,##since the beginning of this ashram. I want you to know that their sacrifice is appreciated by me at least. I really love all of you all the same, all the same. Working or not working. Because you’re working outside, you help society, you help Supreme Master TV. It’s the same to me. It’s just, I want you to see an example of hard work. And appreciation from your Master.” “You can eat at the same time. We do like restaurant, they also have a program and they eat. Is that OK or not?” (OK.) “Because the program is very long, we shall be very, very hungry. OK. Let’s start.” Now, the first program is a trio singing performed by fellow initiates from Hong Kong. “The God of Wealth is Here.” Please welcome them with a round of applause. Thank you. “I just gave each of them a piece of pineapple. We Chinese believe that it will bring profits. From Hong Kong? I didn’t realize that you’re so talented. So much money, how can we use it all? Thank you, thank you.” “The God of Wealth is here. Hurry up! If he thinks you are worthy, you’ll have a bright future.”

Vegan Heroes - Father’s Day Celebration, Part 2 of 6

Vegan Heroes - Father’s Day Celebration, Part 2 of 6

The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” The best father is the one who guides his children towards God. Today, we’ve specially invited a few good fathers who were initiated by Master to practice the Quan Yin Method during Her early days in Taiwan (Formosa). Please come on the stage and receive our special praise. Next, we’re going to present the Vegans R Heroes caps newly designed by Supreme Master Ching Hai. The six fathers on the stage have followed Supreme Master Ching Hai in practicing the Quan Yin Method, and been vegan for 33 years. They are exemplary vegan heroes. “I have spent more than 30 years following Master to practice the Quan Yin Method after initiation. I feel infinite gratitude and awe. It’s said that in this world, to meet a perfect and enlightened Master from the Fifth Realm is a chance in billions of kalpas. But to meet the highest God in the universe, it is billions times more difficult. People have to practice for innumerable eons to reach the 5th level. However, now we realize that the 5th level is just a transit station for us. On the 11th Level, Master has created a new paradise for us, waiting for us to go there. Besides, at the New Year, Master said with tears that She wants every soul to come Home. She would wait for each of us to come Home. Her words were full of expectation. There is so much love and hope. Therefore, on June 16, Father’s Day today, to whom should we show our gratitude and respect? Of course, it is our highest and kindest Father in the whole universe, the most beloved and respected Lord of all worlds, Tim Qo Tu, our Supreme Master Ching Hai.” Next is a cappella by our Association members from Seoul, Korea. A cappella is heard without instrumental accompaniment. Unaccompanied, they listen to each other, support each other, and harmonize their voices together. Let’s welcome this special performance with a warm round of applause. “The Vegan Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

Telling "We Animals" Stories: Interview with Jo-Anne McArthur (vegan), Part 2 of 4

Telling "We Animals" Stories: Interview with Jo-Anne McArthur (vegan), Part 2 of 4

“Then, there is a whole other category: the invisible animals, who we have a very close relationship with, and yet we fail to see them in our lives. We think of them as ‘our ribs’ or ‘wings,’ instead of the animal that they are. Or we think of them as a ‘fur trim’ instead of a fox or mink. These animals are completely invisible, and we use and abuse them worldwide every single day. And they aren’t represented anywhere; they’re invisible, we don’t see them in the media. And so, that became my mission: To illuminate the lives of these animals.” In 2013, Jo-Anne McArthur published her first book, “We Animals,” which was followed in 2017 by her second book entitled “Captive.” She has been awarded a range of commendations for her photography and activism, including the 2018 Wildlife Photographer of the Year, People’s Choice award. “For me, it was important to make a book specifically of this animal work to give it historical weight and significance, and not just to put the work out on social media.” “So, what we do with the images – and it’s not just me now, it’s several of us photographers and filmmakers – we put everything on the We Animals Archive. I think it’s the best thing we’ve ever done. There are about 12,000 video clips and photos of all sorts of industries in almost over 60 countries now, of our use and abuse, and sharing of space with animals. And the images are searchable by key word. And you get the high-res images for free. And again: it’s free.”
