Got any last-minute cleaning to do? I have! Here’s an inexpensive, nontoxic and effective way to clean wood stove glass. Believe it or not, you can use the fine wood ash from your fireplace to make your glass crystal clear, since the ash acts as a mild, non-scratching cleanser. Wood ash contains an alkaline substance known as potash, which acts as a natural degreaser called lye when it is combined with water. Making this natural paste and using a soft-cloth to scrub the glass helps you pierce through the tough creosote stains like a chemical cleaner, but without toxic fumes. Let hot glass cool before cleaning as it can crack or cause injury when hot. To keep your glass clean, it is best to burn only dry, seasoned hardwood and employ your stove at high, consistent temperatures.

Let’s enjoy a laugh together with the joke of the day titled, “Climbing the Education Ladder.”

Two country boys, Eli and Noah, had no way to attend school, but still longed to take part.

“Let’s pretend this tree is a school.”

“Perfect. I found some old books. We’ll study right here under it.”

The next morning, Noah arrived early. He looked up and saw Eli sitting way up in the branches.

“Hey — why are you all the way up there today?”

“Yesterday, I was in elementary school. Today… I’m in high school.”

?!

And now we have a heartline from Jessica in Australia
