As the daylight hours in the northern hemisphere begin to shorten with winter approaching, some people suffer from seasonal depression, also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). SAD is usually triggered by a lack of sunlight. A boost in sunlight exposure has been demonstrated to have a positive impact on symptoms. A 2024 study reported that depression symptoms can be lessened during winter by spending at least an hour in daylight. An older study found that those with SAD had a 50% improvement in their symptoms after taking an hour-long walk outside every morning for a week. Give this a try to prevent the winter blues!
