The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided US$700,000 worth of grants to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to reduce the spread of the virus and lessen its impact on susceptible groups in Thailand, including stateless ethnic minorities as well as migrants and their families. The USAID-UNICEF partnership, in collaboration with the Thai government, a Shining World Leadership Award for Good Governance laureate, has joined with civil and international organizations to provide assistance. This includes guidance and psychological support for parents and caregivers in need, and information distribution on health and hygiene practices. Teaching migrant youth to help their communities with anti-COVID measures and continued skill training and education are other initiatives. The United States is a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate. Our heartfelt gratitude, United States, for your generosity. Thank you also, Thailand, UNICEF and all involved. May the gracious people of Thailand be shielded in Buddha’s boundless love.France supports improving water supply in Tanzania. The French Development Agency, responsible for financially implementing policies of the Government of France, has agreed to provide a €70 million concessional loan to improve water supply and sanitation services in Morogoro, a town in eastern Tanzania. To be implemented by Morogoro Urban Water and Sanitation Authority, the project is predicted to benefit over 722,000 residents with a clean and safe water supply, and at least 15% of the population with access to an effective sewage network by 2025. I have a cool tip to help you easily get ketchup out of a glass bottle. Rather than hitting the bottom of the bottle, try holding the bottle at a 45-degree angle and tapping the neck. Thank you for watching, and much love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Here’s the weather around the world!Smart sponge coating invented to clean up oil spills. Scientists led by Dr. Vinayak Dravid at Northwestern University, Illinois in the United States have developed a sponge that can soak up to 30 times its weight in oil, thanks to its special coating. Any sponge can receive this nanocomposite coating, which attracts oil while leaving water behind, and can be reused up to several dozen times, helping to spare damage to water quality and marine wildlife in the wake of an oil spill. Referring to the detrimental effects of oil spills, Dr. Dravid said, “Our sponge can remediate these spills in a more economic, efficient and eco-friendly manner than any of the current state-of-the-art solutions.” Great work, Dr. Vinayak Dravid and colleagues! The technology you have developed promotes care of our precious oceans helping our planet to thrive, in Celestial radiance.Survey reveals the majority of people support carbon labeling on products. A survey by YouGov, a United Kingdom-headquartered market research company, revealed that 67% of people surveyed support carbon labeling on products, which was the same percentage as last year. The study, commissioned by UK-based company Carbon Trust, dedicated to a sustainable future, covered over 10,000 respondents across Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, the United States and the United Kingdom. Also, 64% of people surveyed revealed they would be more inclined to think positively about a company that could show it had decreased its carbon footprint on products. Wonderful news, YouGov and Carbon Trust. In God’s caring light, may all companies soon label their products’ carbon emissions, so citizens can make wise and eco-friendly shopping decisions.Brazilian care home uplifts seniors with “hug tunnel.” Senior residents of a care home in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, were able to meet their family or friends to exchange hugs after months of isolation due to the corona virus lockdown. The Geriatric Clinic Três Figueiras installed a thick clear plastic sheet at the entrance with four arm sleeves. All visitors have their temperature taken by the staff, who also disinfect the meeting area after each use, with all visits scheduled in advance. The facility credited the idea to the viral video of a woman in the United States who set up the plastic curtain in order to be able to hug her mother. Rubia Santos, administrator of the care home, said, “It is so gratifying to see them hugging each other, and so important.” Thank you, Três Figueiras and staff, for your thoughtful efforts to brighten the lives of your residents. Dr. Rahman Daiyan and Dr. Emma Lovell from the University of New South Wales have discovered a more affordable and scalable method to capture carbon dioxide from industrial settings and convert it into fuel or plastics. The CO2 could be captured from coal-fired power plants, gas plants and more, and are then passed through a catalyst with nano-particles. It is then converted into a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, known as syngas, which can be used to produce useful products such as synthetic diesel, plastics and more. The research has been published in the journal, Advanced Energy Materials. Congratulations, Dr. Rahman Daiyan and Dr. Emma Lovell, on your CO2-reducing discovery. May such conducive technologies soon be ready for industrial application to further green our economies, in Celestial grace.Social enterprise in Uganda makes personal protective equipment from recycled plastic. Can you help me by going vegan? I have a tip to share with you. If you eat something very spicy and need to cool down your mouth, don’t drink water or soda. For relief, try oily foods or even swish a little olive oil in your mouth. Even a spoonful of peanut butter will do. Chips, rice or bread might also help. The burning caused by hot peppers comes from a compound called capsaicin. Foods high in oil dissolve it, so they reduce the burning. Bulky foods like bread can help absorb it. Drinking water will just spread the burning to other parts of your mouth. Thank you for your attention and love you a lot for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Now, the worldwide weather.World’s fastest supercomputer to help look for COVID-19 cure. In today’s news, Denmark contributes to pandemic response in Iraq, research shows correlation between speed limits and traffic accidents, fully electric plane receives safety approval in Europe, scientists in Singapore use illumination contrasts to generate electricity, sheriff’s deputy saves choking baby in United States, multinational delivery service reports increased orders for vegan meals and China upgrades legal protections for pangolins.Iraqi communities receive funding from Denmark to promote peace, stability and wellness. In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the government of Denmark has pledged almost US$900,000 to enhance Iraq’s response to COVID-19. While UNDP is now focused on better testing, isolation wards and personal protective equipment for health care workers, Denmark’s contribution will mainly be used to support the local peace committees that were established by the UNDP in 2018. By boosting social cohesion, both within and among community groups, the country’s containment of the pandemic will be strengthened. For example, groups of young people and women have initiated projects to sterilize public places, distribute baskets of food to vulnerable families and create mobile health clinics. We are gladdened by your caring actions, Denmark and the United Nations Development Programme. May the gracious people of Iraq be secure and prosperous, in the abundant grace of Allah.Study finds that driving slower saves lives. Economists from the University of Illinois in the United States wanted to know the effect of reduced speed limits on the number of traffic accidents. The researchers studied extensive data from São Paulo, Brazil, a city that had temporarily reduced the maximum speed on highways from 90 to 70 kilometers per hour in 2015. During the 18 months that motor vehicles were moving slower, there were almost 22% fewer accidents. Given the history of the municipality, that statistic translates to almost 1,900 accidents averted and over 100 fatalities prevented. Do join me! Here is a tip for those of you with a canine companion. It’s best not to wash your dog more than once a month because it will dry out your friend’s skin, but an excellent alternative is a homemade dust bath. Get an empty spice jar with a shaker lid and put in equal amounts of cornstarch and baking soda, plus a few drops of lavender oil. Cornstarch absorbs lipids, baking soda deodorizes and lavender oil is a natural flea repellent. Replace the lid and shake the jar to mix the contents. Then, go outdoors and sprinkle the mixture generously along your dog’s coat. Work it in with your hands until it reaches the skin. Finish by brushing well and rubbing down with a clean towel. Love you for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet thus save the world! Thank you for your attention, and here’s the weather around our beautiful globe.Manufacturer gets the green light for fully electric airplane. After almost three years of testing, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved its first battery-powered flying machine. The Velis Electro is a two-seater, manufactured by Pipistrel of Slovenia as a proof-of-concept training plane for new pilots. Although its flight time is limited to 50 minutes, the type certifications of both the engine and aircraft are significant for Pipistrel and the future of sustainable aviation. The company is encouraged to pursue other innovations, including the development of a craft that can take off and land vertically, as well as hydrogen-powered commercial transport. Hats off, Pipistrel and European Union Aviation Safety Agency! May more engineers be inspired by the milestones you have achieved as the world enters a new era of quieter air travel with zero emissions, in Celestial harmony.Darkness is put to good use inducing negative charges to flow. Researchers at the National University of Singapore have created a shadow-effect energy generator (SEG) that converts illumination contrasts into electricity. The device comprises a set of SEG cells, which are silicon wafers coated with a thin film of gold. When half of the device is exposed to light and the rest is in shadow, a direct electric current is generated. Even indoors, using low-intensity lighting, the invention is twice as efficient as conventional solar cells under the same conditions, and can produce enough voltage to power a digital watch. In the next phase, experiments will determine if the gold can be replaced with a less expensive material. Way to go, National University of Singapore scientists! Your imaginative method for harvesting green energy makes us smile in anticipation of a fantastic future, in Heaven’s bliss.Youngster survives ordeal thanks to responsive officer. Currently, masks are mandatory on most flights, except when people are eating or drinking. Limiting alcohol consumption on flights will also help passengers to stay hydrated and thus reduce jet lag. By leaving the “to” field empty until you are done, you won’t have to worry about sending an incomplete email to your coworkers or boss. The label will contain wet grip, noise and fuel efficiency readings, similar to energy-efficiency labelings currently used for home appliances. There are also plans for other information to be available in the future, such as the tires’ life expectancy and abrasion. It is estimated that this system will save ten million metric tons of CO2 annually as well as €2.8 billion in savings for consumers. The European Union is a Shining World Leadership Award for Peace recipient and a Shining World Leadership Awards for Compassion, Unconditional World Care and True Caring laureate. Moreover, up to 1,100 jobs will be created and US$3 million in revenue will be generated annually. The facility awaits the agreement of local Native American tribes before proceeding, and during construction, dozens of desert tortoises will be taken to a conservation area until they can be safely returned. Marine animals have especially been thriving, with pink dugongs being seen near Ban Phe, and endangered green turtles laying eggs for the first time in six years at Koh Samui. Similarly, rare leatherback turtles recently have laid the most eggs since recording began eight years ago, with over 300 hatching and returning to the sea compared to about 100 last year. Its 750-horsepower electric motor is backed by more than 2,000 pounds of lithium-ion batteries. The concept flight demonstrated the philosophy of MagniX’s Chief Executive Officer Roei Ganzarski that electric power is both more economical and better for the environment than conventional fossil fuels for travel under 1,600 kilometers. After tests are performed for another few months, the eCaravan will hopefully be approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration in 2021. Our excited congratulations, MagniX! Your ideas for cleaner travel have taken flight towards many bright tomorrows, in Heaven’s abundant light.Researchers determine that goats can understand human gestures. European researchers conducted a study at the Buttercups Sanctuary for Goats in the United Kingdom, and determined that goats can understand human cues in the form of pointing gestures. Two buckets were placed a distance apart, with one containing food. A person pointed at the bucket with the food, and when the goats realized the bucket being pointed at contained food, they learned the meaning of the pointing and responded by going to that bucket. The study, which has been published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology, shows that the goats have a similar ability as dogs and horses to understand human gestures. Thank you, researchers, for highlighting the deep intelligence of playful goats. In God’s love, may all people appreciate and respect our precious animal friends.Aulacese (Vietnamese) girl sketches a world changed by the coronavirus. A group of researchers from around the world working on the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment Fast Radio Burst Project, called the CHIME/FRB Collaboration, have discovered a regularly repeating radio burst from beyond our galaxy, 500 million light years away. The signals, which usually last a few milliseconds and can be so bright that they outshine entire galaxies, are measured by a large antenna of an innovative radio telescope that is located at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in British Columbia, Canada. Let’s all be plant-strong superheroes for our world. Today I’d like to share a tip from Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Your shower ‘wet room’ doesn’t have to be so wet as it makes humidity and extra time to clean/dry. Just buy a ready-made bathtub the size that suits its space, place it under the water tap and voila! you have a bathtub to relax in / shower sit-in. It’s quick to clean and the water can be saved for flushing or garden plants, and in case you can’t or don’t want to go out, such as in pandemic, you can wash your big blankets in the bathtub if no big washing machine available. Take care and protect your precious self. Much love!” We love You, too, Supreme Master Ching Hai, and much appreciation for this practical tip! Zeewaar’s rapid expansion is attributed to European citizens’growing awareness of seaweed’s impressive nutritional and environmental benefits. In fact, theAloha Beach restaurant, located a few kilometers from the seaweed farm, already offers a tasty seaweed-based vegan burger. The secret of my cheerful attitude is the vegan lifestyle. It’s a noble choice. I never regret. You’d surely like to be like me, so what are you waiting for, go vegan today! Here is a little tip for you on how to fix shrunken clothes. First, fill a bucket or washbasin with lukewarm water and then mix in 15 milliliters of baby shampoo or softening conditioner into the water. Soft shampoo and conditioner can relax the fibers in clothing without damaging them. Soak the shrunken clothes in the water for 30 minutes. Next, while they are wet, lay the piece of clothing on a thick towel and roll the clothes in the towel to absorb as much water as you can. Then, gently stretch the clothes on a flat surface, reshape it the way you want, and let it dry. To prevent shrinkage, be sure to read the care label before washing any new items. Also, wash with cold water, because too much heat is the most common cause of shrinkage. Always choose natural air drying when possible. If you need to use a tumble dryer, then always choose a low temperature to save energy. Twenty canines who were rescued from a dog fighting ring in Spencer, Oklahoma, United States have started entering the Guardian Angels training program at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in the state. Initial care of the unfortunate victims of this illegal and inhumane so-called sport came from Mutt Misfits Animal Rescue Society in Oklahoma City, which provided the dogs with acutely needed medical care and 24-hour attention in foster homes. When ready, the dogs are trained in socializing and follow simple commands by inmates at the correctional institute, preparing them for adoption into loving homes. One of the trainers, Carol Pierce, said, “Being able to rehabilitate them, it also rehabilitates us.” Wonderful work, Mutt Misfits, Guardian Angels, Mabel Bassett Correctional Center and all human and canine participants! Yemen’s fragile situation intensified in the first half of 2020 with the appearance of COVID-19, even as widespread flooding led to the return of cholera, malaria and other diseases. Lack of funding forced about three-quarters of UN programs in the country to suspend operations, while the World Food Programme had to reduce rations by 50%. Our heartfelt gratitude, Canada, for your responsive oneness. May the resilient Yemini people soon welcome brighter tomorrows as our world upgrades to a more compassionate and thus blissful abode for all beings, in the sheltering grace of the Divine!Report reveals Big Dairy’s alarming impact on the environment.According to an article called “Milking the Planet,” published by the nonprofit Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP) in the United States, the total combined greenhouse gases emitted by 13 of the world’s biggest dairy operations increased by 11% between 2015 and 2017. In spite of their countries’ acceptance of emissions reductions under the Paris Agreement, these corporations added 32.3 million metric tons of pollution to the atmosphere, the equivalent of 6.9 million passenger cars being driven for a year. Shefali Sharma, Director of IATP Europe and author of the article, concludes by saying it is time to hold these businesses accountable for their climate footprints. We applaud your insightful report, Shefali Sharma, and offer our gratitude to the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy. May humans stop consuming animal products altogether and switch to plant-based living, in Heaven’s upliftment.Up next, families in Rwanda receive affordable solar power kits. Because vegan is cool! I have a little tip for your house plants. If you’re using municipal tap water, you can improve its purity by treating it with 3% hydrogen peroxide. One tablespoon of peroxide for each gallon of water will remove excess iron, chlorine, pesticides and other chemicals you don’t want your plants to be drinking. Thank you for tuning in. And love you for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet for all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. Now, the weather around our beautiful globe.Rural households gain access to electricity in Rwanda. With support from its development partners, Ignite Power was able to deliver low-cost solar energy systems to 5,000 families in just two months. Aside from a photovoltaic panel, each installation includes lithium battery storage, USB chargers, fixed lamps and a rechargeable radio. The constructive campaign is especially significant at a time when freedom of movement is restricted due to COVID-19. For a flat rate of less than US$1 per month, customers can plug in their cellphones, listen to broadcasts and light their homes after the sun has set. The company’s achievement in Rwanda is an extension of its success in Africa, where it has brought electricity to more than a million people. Our compliments and gratitude, Ignite Power and financial supporters! May the tenderhearted citizens of Rwanda be blessed with outer progress and inner peace, in the Almighty’s abiding care.Elastic spine design for soft robot mimics the flexibility of cheetahs. Robotics engineers at North Carolina State University in the United States studied the way that the world’s fastest land animals move. They then duplicated the mechanics and found that by having only two of their prototype’s four feet on the ground at a time, it could move three times faster than robots that keep all four feet on a flat, solid surface. The tiny silicone “softbot” is activated by pumping air into different internal channels, but future versions may be fitted with electromagnetic actuators for greater speed. Moreover, the scientists say their proof-of-concept model is scalable – meaning it could be enlarged to human-size or shrunk to become microscopic. Amazing news, North Carolina State University researchers! Your golden age technology heralds a bright future for all life-affirming peoples on Earth, in God’s boundless love.Octogenarian wins recognition for reducing litter in Wentworth Shire. Market research agency Mintel has published a report describing three trends among consumers in the United Kingdom since the arrival of the new coronavirus. Foremost, there is increased interest in going vegan, followed by a renewed faith in the health benefits of consuming plants and the reflexive behavior of stocking up on shelf-stable supplies. One-quarter of British millennials aged between 21 and 30 say the pandemic has made plant-based eating more attractive. Indeed, the swell of interest extends beyond that demographic to 12% of the entire population. Analysts suggest that people may also be thinking that by abstaining from animal products they are exercising their compassion and doing something to mitigate the climate crisis.
