COVID-19 and Meat Processing Plants: Deadly for Humans and Animals

COVID-19 and Meat Processing Plants: Deadly for Humans and Animals

Welcome, concerned viewers, to today’s important, informative and urgent program, “COVID-19 and Meat Processing Plants: Deadly for Humans and Animals.” What exactly is a meat processing plant? They are fenced-off, massive multi-story, windowless buildings, in which as many as 10 million animals a year are killed, dismembered, cut into saleable pieces of meat or ground into hamburger mince, meat-meal, or meat-pastes, and then packaged for distribution. They were formerly called “slaughterhouses” or “abattoirs,” but have since been re-named “meat processing plants”- perhaps in an effort to make them less repulsive to the public’s ears and eyes. But we should have no doubt at all – these factories are horrific and torturous to both the animals and the humans who work there. During this current coronavirus pandemic, the slaughterhouse horror story is being magnified, as numerous meat processing plants have become hotspots for human transmission of the COVID-19 virus. Why is the virus so prevalent at meat processing plants? Many experts have cited, the stressful, dangerous working conditions in which employees stand shoulder-to-shoulder for long hours on the meat assembly line; in highly air-conditioned rooms laden with bacteria; and floors swirling in fecal matter and blood. This creates a highly volatile environment where disease can quickly spread. Added to this is the psychological and emotional stress of the constant killing, and the sounds and smells of death, all of which powerfully depress and inhibit the immune systems of the workers, which is exactly what the virus needs for infection and transmission. Whether the meat itself was a medium of transfer, or the workers spread it through their meat-products, equipment and bacterial-rich working conditions, remains to be discovered. One thing is for certain – these situations must stop, and stop quickly! Many organizations are calling for the permanent closure of meat processing plants, and an urgent and complete shift to a plant-based lifestyle. Supreme Master Ching Hai has reminded us that all pandemics and environmental disasters are the consequences from killing billions of innocent and helpless animal co-inhabitants, and recommends a global adoption of the vegan lifestyle.

Stopping Zoonotic Diseases: The Vegan Lifestyle Matters, Part 1 of 2

This two-part series focuses on certain epidemics and pandemics from the past two decades that have killed many, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS), Ebola, swine flu, avian flu, and coronavirus and their roots in meat consumption or animal livestock raising, or both. We also cover how a plant-based diet is the best way to minimize zoonotic diseases or infectious diseases caused by the transmission of germs between animals and humans. “Scientists estimate that more than 6 out of every 10 known infectious diseases in people can be spread from animals, and 3 out of every 4 new or emerging infectious diseases in people come from animals.” This is known as zoonotic disease transmission. The CDC defines an epidemic as the number of cases of a transmittable disease arising suddenly above the expected level in a given population within a short period of time. A pandemic is “an epidemic that has spread over several countries or continents, usually affecting a large number of people.” It turns out that Mother Nature has already warned humanity about the meat-eating habit. The simple solution of adopting a vegan lifestyle to prevent zoonotic epidemics has been known for a long time. However, this obvious answer has been ignored….

One Planet Pizza - Good for You, Good for the Animals, Good for the Planet, Part 1 of 2

Today, we are excited to bring you the story of the UK’s first, multi-award winning frozen vegan pizza company, One Planet Pizza, proudly co-founded by a father-and-son team, Mike and Joe Hill. Being a pioneer on many fronts, One Planet Pizza is the UK’s first ever crowd-funded 100% vegan food company. "Well, pizza, as they say, is one of the world’s most favorite foods! In the U.K. alone, it’s worth £480 million, and our aim is just to get perhaps one percent of that market, so that would be tens of thousands of people eating vegan pizza, rather than pizzas with meat and dairy." Mike not only saw the opportunity to introduce great pizzas to the market, but he also realized that people desperately needed better vegan alternatives, to assist them to step forward and bravely make a positive switch in their diet. "One of the phrases we use all the time is something called 'Pizza with Purpose.' So the idea is that we use pizza as an agent of change and it’s a way of encouraging people to eat less dairy, less meat." Mike’s son, Joe Hill, calls himself the “Chief Pizza Distributor.”Together with their like-minded shareholders, they are leading the company to be even more sustainable on many levels. Packaging is one of their outstanding achievements. Their ‘Zero to landfill packaging’ means all their pizza boxes are 100% compostable and all other packaging is fully recyclable. All the company’s recyclable wastes are shredded on site, given another life through composting and other eco-friendly processes. Bravo, One Planet Pizza, for leading by example, using innovative community supported fund-raising strategies, and putting so much hard work into developing such a successful product for the growing healthy vegan food market. You have made clear that every slice that your customers eat is a statement that they care for the environment and the lives of all animals.

Dolly Vyas-Ahuja (vegan)- A True Voice for Ahimsa, Part 2 of 2

With her endless enthusiasm, Dolly has become friends with virtually everyone on the who’s who list of the animal rights movement in India and the USA. One person she is particularly close to is the renowned author, environmentalist, social justice advocate, and animal activist Dr. Sailesh Rao, a Shining World Award for Earth Protection laureate, who is also one of the key originators of the Internet as we know it today. “He talks about all this methane that is going into the air. He’s also talking about us chopping down the forests. Now, every 10 seconds, the Amazon forest is being chopped down for animal agriculture. So, animal agriculture is the number one reason for ocean dead zones, habitat destruction, environmental devastation, and these things have to change.” Dolly’s activism has taken her around the world. In India, she delivered a rousing speech at the World Vegan Conference in New Delhi in July 2019, about the harmful effects of dairy. “And God, Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna, Lord Jesus, Lord Buddha is full of compassion and love. They're trying to teach that, do not harm anyone, do not separate a mother and a child. So, I think we really need to understand what God is trying to say. And that is to live with compassion. That should be number one.” Dolly recognizes that dairy consumption is deep-rooted in Indian culture, which is one reason why she is working hard on her documentary film as a way to change the misconceptions in her motherland. “Once people find out the truth of who they really are, which is compassion, they want to change. They start thinking about this deeply. And I think that veganism is such a powerful movement right now, and it's growing so fast, because, if we don't go vegan, we are hurting our planet, and we really need to secure it for our future generations.”

Mind-Body-Chi – Dr. Wen B-Chen’s Marvelous Relaxation Exercises, Part 1 of 5 (Hsin-Chu, Formosa)

Chi gong is an ancient Chinese exercise that people practice to cultivate the chi – the vital life-force all around and within us. It utilizes meditation, controlled breathing, guided visualization and movements to stimulate the flow of chi throughout the body, thus assisting one in self-healing and preventing illnesses. Tai chi, a popular form of chi gong exercise, is now regarded as a health-promoting activity worldwide. This five-part series features our interview with Dr. Wen B-Chen, the creator of the marvelous Mind-Body-Chi (MBC) relaxation exercise program that incorporates the essence of chi gong, tai chi, yoga and meditation. He will present a unique interpretation of MBC’s various health benefits from a Western medical perspective and give demonstrations of the MBC exercises. Dr. Wen is a former radiation oncologist at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami, USA. He was also the radiation oncology medical director at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, USA. “For people at the age of 30 to 55, that’s my target. Some of them really don’t have time to do exercise to maintain their health. I put together these movements and breathing to help those people. As long as they carve out a certain portion of time for themselves during the day, then their health gets maintained.” “MBC stands for Mind, Body, Chi, and Chi is c-h-i. In our (Chinese) culture, chi represents air, or spirit, or breath, or vitalities. We were taught in our culture that chi exists everywhere, in the universe and in our bodies. Inside the body, chi is supposed to follow the blood, or even go with the blood and nurture our internal organs and extremities, joints, and muscles.” To cater to senior citizens, Dr. Wen has recently expanded the MBC program from the original 6 exercises to 10, with the sequence rearranged. In our series, we’ll cover all 10 exercises. Let’s now see Dr. Wen's demonstration of exercise #1 and #2 of the MBC program.

Going Vegan - The Only Pandemic-Free Diet - in 21 Days, Part 2 of 2

“Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food” is an adage famously spoken by Hippocrates, the Greek physician. Hippocrates is known as the “Father of Medicine.” It’s not surprising then, that the incredible healing properties of living a whole-food plant-based lifestyle can be seen in those who follow Dr. Neal Barnard’s 21-Day Vegan Kickstart program. He is a Shining World Compassion Award recipient. Whole foods are plant foods that are unprocessed and unrefined, or processed and refined as little as possible, before being cooked. Examples of whole foods include whole grains, tubers, legumes, fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Also, most people enjoy familiar flavors and taste experiences. So, it is a bonus to realize that being vegan does not mean any sacrifice in taste. With Heaven’s blessing, nowadays there are vegan versions of everything - from meatless bacon, pulled “pork” jackfruit, plant-based jerky, mock lobster, vegan eggs, vegan burgers, vegan chicken strips, vegan sausages, vegan hotdogs, konjac seafood, … you name it, there’s a delectable vegan version, not to mention the multitude of vegan dairy-replacement options. Supreme Master Ching Hai explained during The Real Love in 2011: “You see, eating animal flesh, meaning we are decreasing our love in our being, from our structure, holy structure. We are born from God, we were holy, we were true humans, we were true children of God. But if we eat the animals, then the mixing of blood types and genetic code between humans and animals makes us lose our status as the crown of creation, as true humans. As pure humans, the children of God, we are under direct connection with the Light, with the mighty Master power of the commanding center of the universe. We have absolute command over all under Heaven, because we were pure, and we’re children of God.” With all the research work done, it’s now time to take action. First of all, you want to clean out your refrigerator. Throw away any animal products like meat, eggs, dairy, honey, and any condiments that have animal products. Next, fill it with health-friendly foods like fresh legumes, vegetables, fruits, some meat and dairy alternatives, and so on. Make a trip to your local fruiterer or farmers market for the freshest and healthiest supplies!

Protecting the Vulnerable During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Part 2 of 2

Today, we will continue to examine other vulnerable groups at an elevated risk of exposure to COVID-19. Homeless people and those whose living conditions fall below basic standards, like informal settlements, are more susceptible to infections, while refugees and internally displaced people are probably the most at-risk. Fortunately, there are international agencies that provide services to these groups to help better minimize their possible exposure to COVID-19. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has scaled up projects to keep refugees and internally displaced people safe by providing life-saving support including clean water, medical care and personal protective equipment like masks. “You can see here there is a handwashing device which is not the usual one. We developed this one considering the response to COVID-19 so that there is less contact of hands with handwashing devices in the communal places.” Countries are also reaching out to support various humanitarian aid organizations. The government of Switzerland has donated US$1.8 million to the United Nations World Food Programme for food supplies for the Sahrawi refugees living in five camps near the Algerian town of Tindouf. About 20 young volunteers in Bolivia are participating in the “Adopt a Grandparent” campaign to help isolated seniors obtain vital resources. A joint report released in 2020, by the United Nations Environment Programme and the International Livestock Research Institute states, “About 60 percent of human infections are estimated to have an animal origin.” Furthermore, it explains, “While wildlife are the most common source of emerging human disease, domesticated animals may be original sources, transmission pathways, or amplifiers of zoonotic disease.” Our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai has emphasized for many years that humans can stop zoonotic diseases by being vegan.

Going Vegan - The Only Pandemic-Free Diet - in 21 Days, Part 1 of 2

On today’s episode, we’ll show you how easy it is to become vegan within 21 days using “the 21-day Vegan Kickstart program”. Why 21 days? Twenty-one days is all it takes to create a new habit – or drop an old one! To change a habit, such as eating meat, fish, eggs, or dairy, the Benevolent Supreme Master Ching Hai has given the following sage advice: “Any habit you can break in twenty-one days. So you know why Shakyamuni Buddha went to sit under the bodhi tree for forty-nine days. He just made sure. Jesus also went to the desert, for forty-nine days. Why forty-nine days? Seven-seven or seven-three. Remember God made the World in seven days?” The 21-day Vegan Kickstart program was masterminded by Dr. Neal Barnard, one of the leading health advocates in the United States and President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). “In this program, what I’d like to show you is how you can get foods working for you, and I’ll also show you an easy 3-week immersion program that we call the Kickstart. Just give healthy foods a try right now. Let’s kickstart your weight loss, kickstart your health. We can conquer those less than healthy habits. Your body really can heal.” The old adage that “we are what we eat” is true. You can immediately tell the difference if you stay on a healthy wholesome plant-based diet and stay away from animal products for a few days. Thus, having “meat” from a dead body can turn your own body into a piece of dead meat sooner than you think. A study of the 21-day Vegan Kickstart program was conducted on healthy people in 2017, when Joanne Evans made a presentation to colleagues at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, about the health benefits of adopting a vegan diet. Nineteen nurses joined the study, eager to testify to science. After being on the plant-based diet for 21 days, 86% of participants lost weight and had an average drop of 24 points in cholesterol with 8 participants dropping 31 to 59 points in the 3 weeks. This study was published in the March 2017 issue of the American Journal of Nursing.

Protecting the Vulnerable During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Part 1 of 2

Worries and fears are in the hearts of everyone during this time of unease. This is especially the case for medically vulnerable populations who tend to carry these emotional burdens significantly more than healthy individuals. Older adults (those 70-plus years of age) and people who have underlying medical conditions such as a non-severe lung condition, heart disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, liver disease, as well as those with a weakened immune system or are very obese are assumed to be at moderate risk for becoming seriously ill if infected by the coronavirus. Older adults with health conditions who are not leaving their homes at all right now may feel lonely, especially if their daily routine included regular interactions with family, friends or care providers. I'd like to share some simple ways you can help ease their concerns and raise their spirits during this time. Check in with them frequently by phone or even better, by video. National governments have posted public health protection measures and assistance information on their websites to help their citizens cope with this crisis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, a US government agency, provides practical advice to those with an underlying medical condition to follow during the pandemic. Here is an abbreviated list of recommendations for such persons from the CDC website. * Continue your medicines and do not change your treatment plan without talking to your doctor. * Have at least a 30-day supply of prescription and non-prescription medicines. * Do not delay getting emergency care for your underlying condition because of COVID-19. * Call your healthcare provider if you have any concerns about your underlying medical conditions or if you get sick and think you may have COVID-19. As long as the number of infected people and death toll is increasing worldwide, we all have the responsibility to take necessary precautions such as social distancing, wearing masks and practicing personal hygiene. Our beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai also reminds us of the importance of safeguarding ourselves from COVID-19. All of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s tips for protection during the COVID-19 (and any other) pandemic are free for viewing and download at MastersTipsOnCOVID-19.com

Traditional Iranian Vegan Cuisine, Part 2 of 2 – Tahchin (Savory Rice Cake)

Today, Ms. Baaran will show us how to make a vegan version of Tahchin, another delicious traditional Iranian dish. Tahchin is a savory rice cake; it's stuffed with ingredients that are not only flavorful but also full of nutrients. The main spice in this dish is saffron, which is mainly produced in Iran. Its vibrant color is used as a coloring, and it has a unique fragrance that makes a dish more appealing. "For vegan Tahchin, we need 500 grams of rice. I soaked 500 grams of rice in water, cooked it for 10 minutes, and then strained it." "We have about 400 grams of thick vegan yogurt. And one unpeeled eggplant, which I’ve cut into smaller pieces." "We add soy sauce and also herbal salt to the soy protein." "Now I am ready to mix all of them together in order to incorporate the soy sauce and herbal salt into the soy protein." "We add oil to our pan and heat it up until it’s hot, and then we add the soy protein and fry it until it’s cooked." "We add the eggplant to the pan. This is the eggplant that we’ve cut into smaller pieces. Then we add a bit of water into the pan and then add the hot pepper." "Mix everything together and add a bit of water to it; a little more water, not too much. Then put on the lid and leave it to cook in its own steam." "Now, we add our vegan yogurt into a big bowl that we have here. Then we add in our spices, some pepper, curry powder, hot pepper paste, and some oil. Now it’s time to add the saffron liquid to it." "We gradually add the pre-cooked rice into the bowl and let the vegan yogurt be absorbed." "I will add some coconut oil to the bottom of the pot." "The inside of our pot is completely oiled; it is a mixture of oil and saffron liquid. Now the pot is ready for the rice and the other ingredients. First, we add a layer of rice, to which we’ve press down to the bottom of the pot. Then we add our soy protein on top of that. It’s best that the soy protein doesn’t stick to the sides of the pot. Then add another layer of rice, and we press everything down again. Now it’s time to add our eggplant mixture to it." "Then add another layer of rice, and it covers the last layer. Our Tahchin is now ready to be cooked for one hour." "This dish is good for celebrations because it has a beautiful appearance."

Full Vibrancy and Light: Lesa Carlson (vegan) on the Raw Vegan Lifestyle, Part 2 of 2

‟I saw Kirlian photography, and that showed the energetic properties around food. It's around all living beings which have energy. The premise that by adding heat, you either create nutrients or up the nutrients is a false idea. When you have something that is full of life force, light energy, it's auric field, its glow, you are consuming light, we are light beings, and the properties of mass and matter, there is no difference." By eating whole vegan foods in their natural state, Lesa says we can achieve a degree of spiritual upliftment. ‟So the quantum field, the biofield of energetics, is really, as opposed to the older idea of vitamins and minerals, and fat and how many calories and this kind of thing. When you move into that it's an energetic vibrancy property, and that it is vibrating at the speed of light. And your food is not separate from that whatsoever, and it is vibrating. So when you align that with your vibrating frequency, you are going into a whole new dimension. And again, you go from, the dense food to lighter food, to food that has more water content, that lightens up your mass and matter to then full vibrancy, that then you're expanded, and you're floating, and you feel fantastic and happy. Okay, so tips on making raw food dishes palatable and exciting for yourself. First of all, play, have fun. And so when you see or feel something that's bringing you joy, or sparks that little spark in your belly, what I did in the beginning that really helped me was I would find something that was cooked, that I was wanting for whatever reason, and then I would just redesign it into a raw food dish or find something that kind of gave me those same sensations. I would say bring color, bring texture, bring different flavors that you like. So, I always say, take the normal thing and then put some interesting things yourself, even in raw food."

The Game Changers – A Revolution in Sports Nutrition and Performance, Part 2 of 2

While “The Game Changers” outlines the health and performance benefits of a healthy vegan diet for athletes, the film also provides evidence that humans are designed to eat plants, not to eat meat. Humans don’t have the genetic and physiological adaptations for eating meat. But we are adapted to eating plants. We have longer digestive tracts for slow digestion, including digesting the fiber in plant foods. We rely on plants to provide vitamin C because we can’t make it ourselves. In the film, Rip Esselstyn, a New York Times best-selling author, former firefighter, and a Shining World Compassion Award recipient mentors a group of firefighters who go on a vegan or “plant strong” diet for a short 7-day period. And even in such a short amount of time, they achieve remarkable health benefits, such as dramatically lowered cholesterol, weight loss and improved energy levels! Cholesterol was 276, today 169. Whoa! Now you’re talking! It’s no wonder that many doctors, specialists and health professionals are recommending the film to their patients. Dr. Josh Cullimore wrote the following for plantbasednews.org: “The Game Changers is a fantastic achievement, and I believe it will actually live up to its name… I am already recommending it to my patients, as are many other doctors across the world… My patients are always astonished - as was Wilks’ father who also adopts a plant-based diet for heart disease - that merely changing the way they eat can transform their health, and are delighted that they are put back in control of their health. It is estimated that if everyone went vegan, the worldwide economy would save $1.6 trillion by 2050, through health and social savings.” Let us now enjoy a preview of the film. “I’ve been teaching fighting techniques to government agencies for more than 15 years. Then, I got injured. Unable to teach for at least six months, I spent more than 1,000 hours studying science on recovery and nutrition, and stumbled across a study about the Roman gladiators. The gladiators were predominantly vegetarian. How could the original professional fighters be so powerful eating only plants? When I made the switch to a plant-based diet, I qualified for my third Olympic team. I broke two American records. I was like, man, I should have done this a long while ago.”

Running for Good – ‘Queen of the Extreme’ Fiona Oakes (vegan), Part 4 of 5

With over 10 marathon wins and 3 world records under her belt, Fiona’s next major target is successfully completing the 4 Deserts Grand Slam – widely considered the toughest footrace series in the world. Within a calendar year, one must finish 4 of the world’s most challenging week-long, 155-mile (250-km) ultramarathons in some of the world’s most unforgiving terrain carrying one’s own food and supplies, a feat that only a small number of people have ever accomplished. Fiona has never had a coach and had to learn through trial and error how to train to push her limits without injuring her unstable right knee. She also recovers quickly from her strenuous workouts and sanctuary work with minimal rest. Fiona credits her lifelong vegan diet for her strength and resiliency. She eats only one simple, whole food, plant-based meal a day. “It’s very seasonal. I eat seasonal vegetables, which my father mainly grows, nuts, pulses, rice.” “One day will be my last day that I see, and all I am doing is trying to maximize my time on this Earth in order to do good, so when my last day does come, I know I’ve done all that I can, and that’s what I would encourage other people to do.” “I find the ultra-stage races do give me something more than physical endurance; they bring mental enhancement.” “We have to change the model in the way that we think, and to do that we have to learn for the others to have more; for it to be more fair distribution of resources along the planet, we have to accept and expect to have less and embrace that idea. And rather than looking at the things we aren’t having, look at the blessings we have all around us.”

The Game Changers – A Revolution in Sports Nutrition and Performance, Part 1 of 2

Today, we are delighted to explore the movie Game Changers, a fascinating documentary that tells the story of James Wilks, an elite Special Forces trainer and the Ultimate Fight winner, who travels the world to discover the optimal diet for human performance. Discovering the truth about the Gladiators’ diets, led Mr. Wilks on a 5-year quest for the “Truth in Nutrition.” He travelled to four continents where he met with dozens of the world’s strongest, fastest and toughest athletes, as well as top experts in nutrition, athletics and anthropology. To his amazement, the plant-based diet was correlated with improved athletic performance, strength and health in many extraordinary and diverse ways. To state this in his own words, as outlined on The Game Changers website, “What I discovered was so revolutionary, with such profound implications for human performance and health — and even the future of the planet itself — that I had to share it with the world.” “Someone asked me, how could you get as strong as an ox without eating any meat? My answer was, have you ever seen an ox eating meat?” Mr. Baboumian has also stated, “This is a message to all those out there who think that you need animal products to be fit and strong. Don’t listen to those self-proclaimed nutrition gurus and the supplement industry trying to tell you that you need meat, eggs and dairy to get enough protein. There are plenty of plant-based protein sources and your body is going to thank you for stopping feeding it with dead-food. Go vegan and feel the power!” “My name is Adam Millman. I love the film (The Game Changers). This is my second time seeing it. I switched my diet to, vegan health, plant-based And it just made me think about like, I used to wrestle back in high school and lifting and I was exercising like six days a week, hardcore. And my mile time was about seven... My fastest mile was maybe 7’25” per mile. And then in college, I beat that 7’58” for one mile. And then yesterday, I just ran four and a half miles at 6’50” a mile, which is insane. So, the point is, I’m listening to all these athletes and how their performance is increasing. And I see it in my life and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, like, yes, this really makes a difference!’”

John Jezewski (vegan): Wellness Is in Our Hands, Part 2 of 2

Today, it is our privilege to feature more excerpts from our interview with John Jezewski. Mr. Jezewski is more than just a nutritionist. He is a living nutritionist and provided us with a background on how he assists people through his practice. “Living nutrition is taking the absolute latest technology and also taking techniques of enthusiasm. So people can make a proper transition to a perfect diet for them. And we’re talking about making that part of your living, part of your life.” “And helping you with supplements, with tonic herbs, and how to do exercises, when to do exercises, how to treat all these different conditions, what you can do to help that particular condition.” As Mr. Jezewski just mentioned, he recommends appropriate dietary supplementation to his clients. His view is that if our focus is to improve our bone density, the intake of plant sources of silica is the intelligent choice. “Good calcium you get from plants. You get calcium from green food basically; you eat lots of that. For bones, you need the silica, not the calcium. You need nettles; you need hemp leaf tea. You need to eat hemp; you need to eat things like nettles, hemp.” “That, with vitamin D, the sunshine, is fantastic. And then, magnesium. That, again, you get from your plants.” “a tonic herb has got no side effects, by definition. It wouldn’t be a tonic herb. So you can take that, and it works internally, and it raises consciousness. It doesn’t suppress any symptoms; it brings them out; it gets rid of them.” Introducing plant-based eating to his clients is part of Mr. Jezewski’s living nutrition practice. He is encouraged by the trends he sees worldwide in terms of the awareness that veganism is the key to wellness.

Running for Good – ‘Queen of the Extreme’ Fiona Oakes (vegan), Part 2 of 5

Today, we will continue our tribute to British endurance runner Fiona Oakes for her extraordinary accomplishments as an athlete and an animal rights advocate. For over two decades, Fiona has devoted her life to rescuing animals and promoting the benevolent vegan lifestyle. She cares for over 600 rescue animals at her animal sanctuary, Tower Hill Stables Sanctuary in Essex, England. Despite the 15-hour workdays and exhausting labor the sanctuary entails, she still finds the time and energy to maintain a strenuous regimen of training runs needed to compete on the world stage. “It is all done for the animals. My running I do to promote veganism, the sanctuary I do to nurture animals. And I’ve been vegan since I was six years old – completely self-inspired decision; my parents weren’t (vegan) at that time. So, my whole life has been pretty much dedicated to helping animals in some shape or form.” “And there’s so much you can learn from animals. Animals are a great leveler and a great teacher if you can listen to their message.” “With regards to the running, I run 9 times a week, about 100 miles (161 km) a week. That is really, really, tough to fit in at the level I am doing.” Thankfully, Fiona has help from some family members and a few volunteers. Two pillars of strength in her life are her mother, Meg and her life-partner, Martin. Fiona is also concerned about the disproportionately high environmental cost of animal-based food relative to plant-based food. In a recent Facebook posting on January 7, 2020, she wrote: “I quote Joseph Poore of Oxford University, ‘A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gasses, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use.’”

John Jezewski (vegan): Wellness Is in Our Hands, Part 1 of 2

Today, it is our privilege to feature excerpts from our interview with John Jezewski. He has been a registered homeopath and Living Nutrition Practitioner for almost 30 years and treated hundreds of people. This gentleman from the UK is a specialist in living nutrition, alkaline health, chronic disease, weight loss, longevity, and mental and emotional health. Additionally, he is an inspiring health coach and the founder and principal of the College of Living Nutrition that offers accredited nutrition courses in London and Birmingham for those interested in training to become a professional nutrition therapist. Mr. Jezewski is a proponent of the alkaline vegan diet. This lifestyle features a high intake of fruits, vegetables, and other healthy plant foods while restricting processed junk foods. Advocates of this way of eating say this particular diet helps maintain wellness and repels serious diseases. Our blood tends typically to be on the slightly alkaline side with a pH between 7.35 and 7.45. Therefore, by choosing more alkaline foods, it means that you may be able to “alkalize” your body to achieve or maintain the ideal pH level. “So there is a big problem. Big, big problem with people becoming too acidic, and then they resort to taking antacids. But again, you need to get to the root cause. And the root cause is eating too much food, too many drinks that are acidic. If you’re drinking cola, you’re drinking coffee, you’re drinking tea, you’re eating chips - deep-fried chips, all of this is adding to the acidity problem. And it’s a big problem. So you need to eat alkaline food, which is vegan, and alkaline - not acidic.”

Acupuncturist Lisa K.Y. Wong (vegan): The Magic of Auricular Medicine, Part 2 of 3

Auricular Medicine is a scientific medical system used to diagnose and treat many different diseases using the ears. Because auricular points are specific locations connected to different areas of the body, if a part of our body has trouble, the corresponding point of the ear will reflect this. Based on this unique mechanism, many ailments can be found and cured by manipulating the corresponding acupressure points. The ear performs the exceptional function of recording the body’s physical history. This can assist Auricular Medicine practitioners in gathering past and present medical information about the client through a process called ear reading. “We read the ear and get the information about what you’ve been through, so basically getting your medical history from reading your ear. And not just what happened to you before, but also what’s happening now in your body; and because the ear has so much information, including that information, genetic information, the genetic predisposition that’s within your genes, that also can be detected in the ear.” In Auricular Medicine, the shape of the ear is said to resemble the resting human fetus. Based on this model, an Auricular Medicine practitioner can tell which points of the ear are associated with which parts of the body. Sometimes, simply pressing a specific place on the ear can eliminate a health condition’s symptoms. “And then, I find a pain in your ear that connects to that pain, and help them make that connection and through just simple massage of that part of the ear, their pain goes away.” Lisa developed the Healing By Design Method, an effective three-step process to initiate self-healing. She now demonstrates how to apply the three steps to relieve a headache.

Acupuncturist Lisa K.Y. Wong (vegan): The Magic of Auricular Medicine, Part 1 of 3

Today, we feature the first portion of our interview with Lisa K.Y. Wong, a vegan licensed acupuncturist and Auricular Medicine specialist in California, USA. Ms. Wong will graciously guide us to better understand the ear and our body’s powerful self-healing system through the viewpoint of Auricular Medicine. “It is a complete, comprehensive medical modality, where we use the ear to do diagnosis and treatment of all the conditions in the body, up to 200 diseases, and 500 symptoms. Many of the symptoms that most people don’t even know about until much later. Ms. Wong is the founder of the Center for Healing by Design, a non-profit organization established in 2015 to help people get in touch with their doctor within. Lisa developed the Healing By Design Method, an easy 3-step process that uses the body’s built-in tools for self-healing and accelerating repair and recovery. The organization’s vision is to engage, educate and empower people worldwide with effective self-care skills to prevent and overcome health challenges in their lives. To convey her passion for spreading this easy and effective self-care method globally, Lisa scaled the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, in July 2015 for her initiative called “Climb Every Mountain Self-Care Movement.” The project’s vision is to help people prevent illness and disease at almost no cost, improve lives for people with and without access to medical care, empower people to heal themselves by using the body’s wisdom and ignite a transformation in healthcare treatment through the concept of self-care. The ear is a small, yet important, part of our body in promoting health. It’s not merely an organ for hearing, but also a sophisticated structure which can be used to treat diseases. Healing through ear manipulation has been employed for approximately 2,500 years. It is recorded in the Huang Di Nei Jing, or The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, an ancient Chinese medical text that has been regarded as the fundamental doctrinal source for Traditional Chinese Medicine. How miraculous that the body can really tell us all the conditions about, what of the body is going on, dealing with, and allows us to treat as well by manipulating the acupressure points in the ear, whether we do it with needles, or using just simply a finger. All the different ways to manipulate the ear, by giving massage, or heat, or all kinds of ways to get the body to change the energy in the body.

Fancy Raw Vegan Cuisines from Israeli Vegan Nutritionist, Moran Bar-Lev – Halvah Cubes & Falafel Cabbage Sandwich

Today, we are delighted to have Ms. Moran Bar-Lev back on our show. Moran is a trained naturopathic specialist and holds the following certifications: Holistic Natural Nutrition, Raw Food Chef, Senior Massage Trainer, Senior Reflexologist, Nutrition, and Orthomolecular Medicine. Moran authored a book entitled “Health Changing Raw Food Nutrition” in Hebrew. This book explains the body’s natural healing ability and provides rules for proper nutrition. It also contains dozens of delicious, healthy, colorful, and vibrant raw vegan recipes. “My name is Moran, and I’m from Israel. I studied naturopathy, and I help coach and guide other people with the raw food world. We love halvah and we love falafel. So today, the two dishes that we’re going to make are from my book about raw food. So we’re going to make halvah. This halvah is like a dessert, or when you want a sweet thing to eat, it’s just perfect. So the ingredients that I’m going to use is ‘t’hina,’ tahini in English. It’s a sesame paste, from white sesame.” “Now we’re going to make falafel. Falafel is a very famous dish here in Israel, in the Middle East as well. Usually, it’s deep-fried served with chips and pita. It’s not something that you feel very light afterwards. So today we’re going to make raw falafel. Here are the ingredients. I want to explain to you what we are using.”
