American teacher and former atheist Tricia Barker (vegan) shares her near-death experience proving our souls live forever.
In her senior year of college, Tricia had a devastating car wreck, shattering three vertebrae, fracturing her ankle, and suffering internal injuries. Without health insurance, she lay strapped to a board in pain until a young surgeon, Dr. Philon, agreed to operate after 40 hours on duty. Signing a form with a 17% chance of death, Tricia believed she would be fine.
As anesthesia began, Tricia suddenly left her body. Atheist at the time, she was shocked that consciousness continued and wanted to return just to tell her friends that we “definitely go on.” From above the operating table, she saw her open back and hip, much blood, and the surgical team working. She also telepathically sensed their thoughts and watched their actions in 360-degree vision.
Two luminous angels, 7–8 feet [2.1–2.4 meters] tall, appeared and sent light from their eyes into Tricia’s spirit body, instantly calming her. They told her, “We’re here with you— don’t worry,” then said, “Watch this,” and sent a healing light through the surgeons into her body. She saw bone fragments being removed and was shown she would walk again, realizing then that angels can work through humans.
When the monitor flatlined, Tricia thought, “I’m dead,” and wished to leave the room. Instantly her spirit moved to the corridor, and she saw her stepfather buying a candy bar—a detail later verified as true. Then she drifted outside over Austin [Texas] at night, feeling oneness with everyone she’d known. She specifically saw the beautiful hearts of coworkers she had judged or ignored and realized fear and self-consciousness had kept her from knowing them. She resolved to open her heart if she returned.
Then Tricia underwent a life review conducted by a beautiful bright Light. Anything Tricia had done to harm herself saddened the Light, Which wanted her to love herself as God does. She was shown that as a child, she had strong faith and felt closer to nature, and was told to bring back the lesson of nature’s healing power. Instantly she was in a brilliant green field of peace, which felt like Heaven.
There, Tricia met her deceased grandfather by his old pickup truck, though she almost didn’t recognize him because he looked so young and healthy. Tricia transformed into the child version of herself and rode in the back through tall grass just like old times, feeling joy. Her grandfather asked her, “Do you want to keep going towards God?” Tricia agreed, and ahead a Great Light beckoned. Flying toward It, she felt the prayers of her mother, father, and other family members begging God to let her live.
Approaching God’s Light, Tricia saw a great river of life below with countless little lights—souls— some bright, some dimmed by fear. God then showed Tricia her own soul, which had grown very large and full of light, especially since she was so close to His Great Light. God said in a thunderous Voice that Tricia needed to be a teacher and all these little lights were her students. She would help them turn on their lights and go out into the world and remember their soul, remember their connection to nature, let go of fear, embrace their passions, live life to the fullest, and believe that we do go on and that these bodies are just a costume that we put on for a while.
Tricia didn’t want to be a teacher—she argued for a moment—but there is no arguing with God. The next moment, she was back in her body, a nurse feeding her ice chips. She was disappointed to be “just Tricia” again, but retained memories of the angels and God. She healed, earned her teaching certification, taught English widely, and often senses the angels working through her in the classroom. Despite challenges readjusting to earthly life, Tricia continues to remember the place of Light and spread God’s message that we are not just bodies— we are so much more (Daily Express; Be the Light of Your Own Healing)
