Cameroonian Spicy Steamed Egusi Pudding (In Duala)

  Ingredients
Ingredients: (Serves 2)

  • Warm water
  • 300 grams egusi seeds, grind
  • 15 grams ginger, grind
  • 1.5 grams black chili pepper, grind
  • 20 grams Scotch bonnet pepper, grind
  • 25 grams onion, grind
  • Vegetarian protein meat
  • Peppercorns
  • Salt
  • 1 Maggi seasoning cube
  • Banana leaves (for steaming)

Directions
Directions:

  1. Pour some warm water into the bowl.
  2. Add the egusi, ginger, black chili pepper, Scotch bonnet pepper, and onions. Mix well.
  3. Add some salt, and Maggi seasoning cube. Mix well.
  4. Wrap the Egusi Pudding in the banana leaves; tie it firmly with a string.
  5. Add water to the pot. Bring to boil. Add the Egusi cake, cook about 2 ½ hours.
  6. Turn off the heat. Take out the cooked Egusi cake.

Garnishing:

  1. Unwrap the Egusi cake, cut into the small pieces.
  2. Serve with a yam or a tuber.
