“At that time, long, long, long eons ago, there were four rivers, and two kings of two great countries, big countries.” “One day, the Diamond King was thinking thus to himself, ‘My army is very strong, but we have only one river. The water is kind of short, shortage of water. And the other king, King Brahman’s army is weak. But he took three rivers. If he gives us one river, then we’ll become his friend. But otherwise, I will bring my army there and take the river.’” “Of course, the army of the King Brahman lost.” “He dispatched somebody to come out and talk with the Diamond King. ‘We will return one river for you. And then also we offer you one beautiful girl. And from now on, the two countries will offer each other whatever is rare and good, in a friendship.’ So, OK. Then the Diamond King withdrew. And then he took this woman home to marry, and make her to become his wife. And during her pregnancy, wherever she went, there was a canopy with all kinds of precious stones, precious jewels, always protecting her from above, always just flying on top of her head. And after she gave birth to this son, the canopy went to the son instead. Probably the name is canopy, canopy.” “After burying the king, of course, the prince became king. He said, ‘If my merit is sufficient to be the king of this country, then please let my citizens have sufficient food to eat, to live. No need to plow the field and suffer so much like that.’ After he asked like that, then suddenly, everybody in their house had enough food to eat, enough rice and all the things they needed. And since then, other countries also came and asked for the same food and blah, blah, blah. And from then on, the Canopy King ruled the whole universe, this Earth universe.” “One day, early in the morning, the sun had just risen. There was a chariot with jewels, sparkling, coming from the east. And the king vowed again, or talked to the sky again, ‘If my merit is to be the Wheel Turning King, then this chariot should stay here.’ And then of course, the chariot stayed there. After that, the king became Wheel Turning King.” “’Ananda, you should know, the King Canopy at that time, who, who can that be? It was I, the Buddha. It was I, one of my incarnations. Because I had such loving compassion for my citizens, I often gave my things, my possessions, even precious teaching, good teaching. So I led them into the right way.’ ‘Because of that, all beings at that time, and now, they practice good ways, and they will benefit, be born in Heaven or be born in a favorable situation on Earth. So I asked the Buddha again, meaning Ananda asked, ‘Obeisance to the World Honored One, what kind of merit had the Canopy King done to become the Wheel Steering King at that time? And how come that even though he was still in the mother’s womb, he already had the canopy covering him, protecting him? Please can you tell us.’”
